This is a beautifully restored hotel on the edge of Melbourne's business district. The atrium and restaurant/bar are beautiful. The breakfast spread is huge and tasty. Our room was nicely decorated, and quite spacious. Enjoyed four nights of restful sleep on the 8th floor in a really quiet room. Staff at the hotel are extremely attentive and deserve special recognition... More

The Rialto is in my view the top 5 star hotel in the Melbourne CBD. Service was excellent and attentive - both at the door, in the restaurant and at the bar. Food was very good - breakfast service was extensive and food was tasty. Rialto provided a very good rate while I was there, certainly lower at the time... More

It is certainly a lobby/bar area that spurs debate. An old street between two warehouses, glass roof and blue lights. Perhaps a little dark but certainly memorable. Check in was a busy with not enough staff on at the time though processed quickly when I got to the desk. Only stayed one night so it may differ during the week... More

I have just returned from week-end conference trip to Melbourne & stayed at the Intercontinental - The Rialto. Check-in was quick, simple and efficient. All the staff from my arrival at the front door and subsequent departure days later were courteous, friendly, professional and quick to offer assistance. The room (a deluxe king suite), was well appointed and very spacious.... More

What we expect from a five star hotel. Nothing stood out but everything was well done. I had a drink in the bar on my own and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The rooms are small but modern and clean. The television positioning is mentioned regularly on tripadvisor but is okay to watch from bed. The rooms face into... More

The Rialto provide the usual high Intercontinental ambassador standard. Prior to our arrival I had emailed arrange a flower delivery to our room for our wedding anniversary. As well as the usual upgrade the hotel treated us to an excellent bottle of champagne and a delivered a stunning bouquet of roses as requested. The room was very comfortable - we... More

The Rialto feels like a 5 star hotel - doorman, bell boys, ambiance in the lobby but it just does not quite meet the grade. Whenever I stay here there always seems to be a queue at reception for check in/out. More staff at peak times? In room check in? This does not seem to happen with the same frequency... More

Rude and distracted staff overall. They see you around hotel and don't even greet you. Not something we would expect from a 5-star hotel. Check in receptionist chatted with colleague rather than attend us, bell boy dropped bags and left, concierge couldn't even recommend and book a table for us after making promises he would. Very disappointing

You can pamper yourself in this great but expensive downtown hotel. It is a historic building converted into a hotel, and the lack of exterior windows in some rooms is its biggest weakness. If you decide to shell out $315/night (internet is extra at $30/day, same with breakfast) make sure you go to the Eclipse Café on the street level... More

The Rialto is a 5 star hotel and it is brilliant - mostly. The room layout, for example, is not thought out that well. There is nowhere to sit and watch telly as it is in a difficult position on a side wall. The desk takes up a great swag of the room which equates to wasted space. The chase... More
