Things got off to a good start when I received a free upgrade to a 1-bedroom apartment, but disapppointment quickly set in. The door to my room had patches of paint missing, hinting at what I would find inside: water damaged cornices, large cracks in the bedroom walls, peeling paint, broken and mismatched furniture. Wandered in a bit further and... More

I stayed in my first room and the noise of the fridge was so loud i had to unplug it. the coffee cup was cracked right through so when i made a coffee it ran all over the bench, the walls are paper thin and a number of noisy guests made relaxing impossible. I requested and was moved to anther... More

The room was very small and difficult to fit a ports or in, despite having checked with the hotel before we booked that there was enough room. There was no lift to the ground floor, which made it difficult to transport all the luggage and baby paraphernalia that we had to and from our room. There were some minor annoyances,... More

My tittle said it all. Dirty mouldy shower, broken shower door, tiny, tiny room. How they could advertise these rooms as deluxe amazes me. Don't stay there, $205 for one night in a dump.

This is a heritage buiding and very beautiful, unfortunately though all the rooms face in on a courtyard so you are able to hear everyone coming back at all hours of the night. The customer service was exemplary - all very professional and courteous and helpful. The rooms however need a big refurbsih. the first room I was in badly... More

after selecting a mystery hotel off wotif.com and then getting the name and address looking it up and the bad reviews we started panicking of "what had we done?"but after arriving and checking in we have found that even though it is old (it is heritage listed) it was very cosy, clean, staff were excellent, a great big thank you... I've stayed here many times over the last couple of years (probably 15-20 times in total) but I think the apartments are starting to get a bit tired. Before now I've never had any hesitation in staying at Gordon Place - but my most recent experience was of room with very tired fittings, a dodgy shower and an uncomfortable bed.... More

Stayed here for 1 night, mix up with room originally booked was quickley fixed up by very nice staff, however room was very tired looking , television was very small and tv reception was terrible , to hire a DVD was a tad expensive at $15.95! Not really worth $300.00 a night. Good location and lovely heritage building.

We had a 1 bedroom apartment in this lovely heritage building. The apartment was spacious with a huge bedroom. It was also well appointed with a dishwasher in the kitchen and also a washer and dryer in a closet. The location is ideal, within walking distance to most of the CBD attractions, public transport to venture farther afield was also... More

Our friends from Queensland stayed here for 2 nights last month and we popped in to see them at this so called 4 Star Boutique Hotel. Tired, run down and even the reception area at the front needed a good clean and refurbishment. The hotel room was shabby - everything looked old and needing a good scrub and refurb. There... More

Thank you for your feedback Ms Swarovski regarding your friends recent stay with us at Somerset Gordon Place Melbourne, I can completely agree with you regarding the property requiring a good clean. I have immediately instigated in July a full deep clean of the property including the public areas. As Somerset Gordon Place is a heritage listed property we try... More
