Return visit to the Pipi Patch and again the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a double twin room that was clean, had a TV and towels were provided, the room had its own little kitchen area with a fridge/freezer that was ideal for breakfast and making tea/coffee. The area was shared by other private rooms and... More

I stayed here with Kiwi Experience. I liked this hostel, the dorm rooms were nice and you have an ensuite bathroom and small kitchen/fridge area as well. More bathrooms in the hostel would be better as sometimes 8 people trying to all use the bathroom for showers etc before leaving in the morning can be a pain. The lounge/computer area... More

I stayed here with the Kiwi Experience in January, The weather in the Bay of Islands was great and the activities where fantastic which thankfully distracted from the hostel. It was obviously a motel first and then converted. I can't complain about the rooms in the hostel as mine was generally ok. Clean and tidy. However the common areas where... More

I stayed here from the 21st-23rd Dec 2011. I was generally happy with the accommodation, although a bit tired. The beds were comfortable enough. The bar seemed to be the most popular in town. You have internet access there with webcams, so useful for skype! Staff were friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere, Plenty to do around Paihia, The hostel is close... More

A party hostel, which is fine if you are happy being kept awake till the early hours by music and drunks. The rooms were basic with clean bedding. There was a flood in to the sleeping area from the bathroom when we arrived - we reported it to the guy cleaning but no one turned up to sort it out... More

It's fine. The bar is fun. It's a younger crowd. It's also where many of the tour buses go so it gets crowded. But it's really not that great. There are better hostels in Paihia. Also, I was in an 8 person room so that doesn't help this review. Not their fault though. More

I went on a Stray bus and pretty much had to stay here in an 8 bed dorm. Never again. The fellow guests were loud, obnoxious, inconsiderate and partied late into the night. It is where all the Stray bus and Kiwi Experience crowd stays on a nightly basis. It may have been better in a smaller dorm but the... More

What more can we ask?... I have stayed in many backpackers and this place is definitely one of my favorite! I am quite a clean freak but our room was definitely spotless! In fact, I have never seen a backpacker so clean before! However, I don’t know how the dorm rooms looks like. My boyfriend and I stayed in a... More

An ok hostel, probably a lot nicer before Base took it over anyway. I stayed in an 8 bed ensuite room, which unfortunately meant no other shower facilities on site. So you’ll find yourself being number 8 out of 8 people queuing for the bathroom sometimes. However, outdoor hot tub is a nice touch. Has a lively bar attached which... More
