“Backpackers for grown ups”

I stayed in one of the cottages and was very pleased with the standard, the room was clean and bright, well serviced each day. Easy walk to the town centre and parking available if you take a cottage. It's not flash but it doesn't pretend to be but I'd be very happy to stay here again.

“Decent Place within walking distance to city center”

I really don't like complaining, but we felt we had to here - for the price. We thought it to be a motel price for the quality of more a camping ground motel/ cabin. We stayed in a cottage room which was very nicely decorated and a decent sized room. It was very nicely decorated and presented and the kitchen had everything you needed. “Happy to be a regular customer”

I stay at Ducks and Drakes regularly while visiting for business purposes, and have stayed in all five of the units over time. They are subtly different, nicely decorated, and very easy to live in. You can walk very short distances to restaurants, cafes, bars and supermarkets. The service is excellent and any query is dealt with instantly.

“Exceptional value! More a boutique hostel & a sauna...”

What more can we say - this place was great value. We stayed new years and got a great night sleep (other than the small earthquake). The service was great, the sauna was great, the kitchen is well equipped, the room was quirky, and felt more like a boutique b&b, it was clean, it was a great slice of luxury.... More

“great stay”

We only stayed 1 night but this would have been the cleanest and nicely presented unit we have stayed in either in NZ or Australia.The staff were very helpful in arranging taxi transport and advising us on maybe where should go in the not so flash weather.WE WILL BE BACK.THANK YOU

“Great welcome”

This is a really first class place to stay. It is back packer friendly but with a touch of class in the comfortable beds, lovely decor, and well appointed kitchen area. Lots of nice sunny rooms to chill in plus awesome staff. It's also nice and clean and not too noisy.
