This B&B has its share of eccentricity (in a good way), but the service and convenience are lovely. Jane is a warm and very interesting host, let us park right in her driveway (a big help in Wellington, where parking is difficult) and had breakfast ready at an early hour so we could catch our morning ferry to Picton. Jane, the host, was genuinely friendly and helpful from booking throughout our stay. She is also a great cook! The biscuits left upstairs for guests were yummy. We really enjoyed talking with her about Wellington and the history of the area. The beds were wonderfully cozy. We enjoyed the free Wi-Fi as well. There is a hike right next to... More

Those are Jane's words to describe her B&B. Jane really made us feel like guests, not customers. There are so many little touches like full cookie jars, beer, wine and milk available in the upstairs hall, tons of books available and great conversation and recommendations. We had a cosy room lacking nothing for a comfortable night. The location is really... More

We spent 3 nights in Wellington during our one month NZ tour. We had a comfortable room at the back of the house with an ensuite. The bed was very comfortable with good lights for reading and many books available if you needed a new one to read! Jane was always available to give recommendations for dinner and things to... More

We (family of five, kids aged 4, 8 & 11) had a wonderful couple of nights at Jane's. The lovely breakfast at the round kitchen table sharing stories with other travelers and Jane and her staff was wonderful, as were chats with Jane about her writing and literature in general. Jane guided us to restaurants and walks in the nearby... More

Located up the hill a bit from the downtown area, but well within walking distance, Booklovers provided a roomy bedroom with one of those old-fashioned claw foot bathtubs, this one with a very good shower in the bathroom. Jane, award-winning author of five books, was friendly and helpful in advising of places to see and eat. Good wi-fi service is... More

Jane is a very hospitable and interesting host. Her homemade granola and rhubarb compote is part of a filling and delicious breakfast. Te Papa Museum and many good restaurants are within ten minutes walking distance. She also stocks a small fridge with complimentary beer, wine, etc. which is very nice at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

Got this recommendation from a German family we met in Tairua and corresponded directly with Jane. A large house in a quiet part of the city but close enough to walk downtown. Made really welcome from the minute we arrived. A large comfortable room with loads of character. A relaxing feel about the house and if you can engage Jane... More

This was a lovely B & B in a quiet location in Wellington. The welcoming we received from Jane was very warm. She gave us a really good tip for food and drink that night and made us feel very much at home. She is a really interesting person and the themes in the Booklovers are really interesting. The room... So comfortable, so fabulous! Cookies and wine for guests to help themselves. Tea and coffee facilities in the room - which was HUGE, bed immensely comfortable and both room and en suite immaculately clean! Almost wall to wall, floor to ceiling with books. Heaven! Jane was immensely helpful and really friendly. We felt like we were staying with a good... More
