Spent 3 nights with my husband in a double ensuite room. Simple but well done. Everything felt clean. Wasnt too noisy. Location is great because you are right by the hustle and bustle but not too close that you can get away from it if you want. Really friendly and helpful staff. Our only dislike was the kitchen TV lounge... More

Fantastic little hostel. Staff were enthusiastic and happy to help you feel at home. If you are planning to do a bit of backpacking this is a great place to have a stop, two large communal kitchens with all nessacary equipment and good sized and clean bathrooms. In the winter there is a nice log fire that is always burning... More

We ended up in a twin room at the hostel as all the double rooms had been booked. The hostel is not far from town and the double/twin rooms are set back from the main hostel and so are a bit quieter. The room was clean and tidy with a two ring hob, sink, towels and hair dryer. Beds were... More

the room was clean but pretty skimpy (old style shower that doesn't have its own "pan" so all the water gets all over the bathroom when you shower). the facilities are really basic. their dryer was broken when we were there and it was really annoying that they seemed to take no interest in getting it fixed (there's a good... We had booked a double room, non-ensuite as it was not available anymore. But is was a good spaceous room, with big windows and door to outside area. Very good compared to what we have had before for that price (68 nzd). Kitchen could have been cleaner, but we went out for dinner anyway (as you should in queenstown). Host... More

We stayed at the Lodge for three nights total, 2 nights before a Doubtful Sound trip and 1 night after. Staff was all incredibly friendly and helpful, answering our many questions and booking a jet boating tour for us. Bag storage available in a locked shed for the night we were away. The hostel has two buildings - one for... More

I stayed at Aspen Lodge Backpackers two years in a row (July 2010 & July 2011). The first time was with a friend and we stayed in an 8 bed dorm with ensuite bathroom. The communal lounge area & kitchen was clean, well equipped and friendly, social atmosphere (in fact they have two kitchens/ounges so if one is too busy... More
