I stayed in the hostel for 2 nights in a 6 shared room. Both nights had little sleep due too no fans (too hot) and not being able to close the window, therefore the noise down below of people kept you awake till early hours in the morning. I only stayed here one night but it would have been nice to stay longer. The building is really old and really cool! The staff were friendly and helpful and put on plenty of activities. The location was handy for the Greyhound and groceries. Good showers, slept well.

Newcastle Beach YHA has much going for it ! Situated close to the main beaches of Newcastle, it is housed in what was previously a "gentleman's club" so I am told. There is a large lounge area (ex ballroom), quite good hostel facilities ... and very friendly staff.
