Its not ritzy, but there was a warm welcome and it is a very peaceful spot with a lovely garden outlook towards the sea. Cleanliness was good. Perfect for a one night stay and just a couple of minutes drive to the centre of Thames.

My wife and I recently stayed in refurbished cabin number 1 for 3 nights - it was clean and tidy, had new furnishings and a decent shower area. Great spot, with great views, even though it was raining. We played in the grass area with our child and immediately realised that the great thing about this place was that you didn't have to cross the main road to get to the beach. Thames is great location to tour around the Coramandel, and it has some very good little restaurants, and a great street market ! Sunset Motel was very well located and had reasonably priced Chalets with beautiful views across the Bay

A friendly, comfortable motel, ideally situated right on the beach front. A few kilometres from the town, but that guarantees a nice quiet stay and oh, the magnificent sunset!

The views, particularly the sunset were fantastic, but the rest was very poor. The rooms and the furnishings are very "tired". The essential bits such as the kitchen and bathroom were very clean but the rest was grubby. The windows hadn't been cleaned for months, the sillswere dusty with dead flies and the paintwork grubby. Nice quiet little place. Just step out the door and there you are at the beach. Great for walking / exploring.
