Stayed here overnight en route to Bay of Islands. It is quite a way out from the main town and we got the impression that the surrounding area was not the best place to be. There only seemed to be one member of staff on duty who did everything from reception to serving at the bar. She was very friendly... More

I stayed here for overnight for a work related event and was very impressed with the team that work at the Flames Hotel. They were all so helpful and very friendly and ensured our event went well. Yes, the rooms are a little dated, as others have said, they are clean and comfortable. The rooms were very quiet and just... More

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and although showing its age is very tidy. The grounds are are real highlight and we really enjoyed the spa pool. The staff are exceptionally helpful and welcoming. The rates are very reasonable. The food in the restaurant was very nice. The rooms are quite spacious and they have done... More

I booked 4 rooms for a work related overnighter. On arriving we were warmly greeted which was lovely. We were all on Motorcycles and the hotel accomodated our parking needs with hesitation. Drinks at the bar with some snacks then into the resturant for a very lovely meal. As some onthers have mentioned yes the rooms are a little outdated,... More

My wife and I stayed at for one night on our way through to the Bay of Islands. The hotel is quiet, clean and comfortable, although looking a bit dated. Staff quite friendly. We had one of the Premier King rooms with a view out the back to the harbour. It's not as attractive a view as we expected, largely... More

I stayed for 3 nights on business, and was really pleased with the level of service received during my stay. The staff were all lovely, and the food was plentiful and excellent. The rooms may look a little older than more modern hotels, but they are extremely comfortable and warm. Will go back.

We stayed two nights whilst touring New Zealand. It is in a nice location overlooking the sea. It is reasonable £85 for a double room. You pay extra for breakfast. It has washing machines. The staff are very pleasant and helpful.

I live in whangarei so I know there is a shortage of good hotels. Since my house was rented out, me and the girlfriend stayed 2 nights here. Has pool, bar and restaurant. Nice friendly place, clean and warm. Would stay again.

We took the recommendations from trip advisor and booked this hotel it proved to be an excellent choice. The service is friendly and despite the person who greeted us at the desk also acting as the barman, waiter and room service it was remarkably efficient. We had a room overlooking the pool and harbour views the bed the room was... More
