Would agree with previous comments that the place is a little dated. However our unit was clean, adequately equipped, had good WiFi. We had a separate bedroom, which was nice as we were cooking. Parking no problem as it wasn't busy. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay

Some great things about this place: It was easy to find and just down the road from the Whangarei information centre, free wireless broadband that worked with no hassles, and really comfy beds. There was a nice inground pool (decent size) which would have been good for a swim and a chill out had the weather been kinder. We stayed... More

broken glass under the chair-watch your children. We pay 150 per night (2 adults 2 kids) asking for 2 bedroom and in fact they give 1 bedroom (cost 135- Unfortunately we know it late. Apart from above, we can't comment on quality- what do you want as it is only 3 stars

Guest was offered 1 or 2 b'room unit with his "stay 3, pay for 2" deal. He choose to take the 1 bedroom unit as it was cheaper, although a 'superior' unit. He paid $300 for 4 people for 3 nights. A great deal! We apologise for any broken glass and hope no-one was hurt. Unit is 3.5 stars with... More

I would urge anyone visiting Whangerei to stop at Fountain Lodge! Booking was easy and Robyn very kindly upgraded me to a better room at no extra charge. Lionel picked me up and dropped me off at the bus stop which was such a great help bearing in mind it was my first time in a new place. Fountain Lodge... More

We really don't like to leave bad reviews but have no choice for this accommodation. To start, if you are not comfortable driving on the left-side of the road, DON'T stay here as you must drive up a steel hill, squeeze by other occupants' parked vehicles, turn around and come back, only to parallel park (on the left with a... A pity when a guest arrives from a long haul flight tired & irritable, has trouble with their computer in a new country (writes a negative review 2 weeks later) & other guests are content & happy with everything, enjoying themselves. With kiwi prints on walls, eco bulbs in shades, carpet, spotless units, views from large windows, gardens etc, complaints... More

This review is for the two bedroom unit we booked for an overnight stay. The bathroom and kitchen area were clean and the beds comfortable and clean. The Unit generally though is tired and in need of a serious makeover. The living area walls need painting, carpet needs replacing, the aluminium windows and sills all need a really good scrub... Thank you for your feedback. Happy you found the beds clean & comfortable, also kitchen & bathroom. The window sills have been dealt with. With many large units, we are systematically updating. For the price of $35 pp including free broadband, we feel you received very good value. Management More

We chose to stay at the Fountain Lodge Motel when we migrated to New Zealand recently. The website clearly shows it's not a new motel, and we found the photos had given a true representation. The unit we stayed in was clean, spacious, comfortable and met all our needs. The price was good value for money. The managers could not... More

Difficult to get checked in. Room small and very old fashioned - door consisted of sliding patio door with flimsy lock. Very noisy during night with a number of other units seeming to have all night parties. Having told the owner I needed to leave early (and paid in advance), there was no facility to drop off the key. Had... More

We appeciate valid feedback. We regret guest had to wait in line for checkin, didn't like the new modern bedspread, furniture & fresh paint after he requested our cheapest room. We didn't hear any parties & weren't notified if there was. A notice & bell on the counter was missed by guest. More

I read the reviews on here so thought we would give it go here. We got the three bedroom unit down the bottom. Dont think it had been used for a while and was quite "musty" they did have something plugged in to cover the smell. The unit was definately in need of a make over.. very dated. Place wasnt... More

Thank you for your feedback. However it's quite surprising considering guest only had positive comments about the unit upon leaving and gave us no inidication at all they were unhappy about anything. If we don't know, we can't fix it! Management More
