Very old, but clean. Friendly staff.Large well equipped kitchen. Hanging out washing on a rickety fire escape was an experience I would not like to reapeat. The parking was out the back, but only for a set time late in the day till morning.Would stay elsewhere another time.

Didn't get a great welcome on arrival. There was no one on reception and a button to press for service (there was a big sign). Pressed a couple of times and got no service. Eventually one of the cleaners came down and told us not to press the button because it rings in his room, instead we should ring the... More

Great location in the centre of Greymouth . Free tea/coffee and toast for breakfast plus a free 30 minute internet voucher.....all things that make a backpackers day. I stayed in a perfectly adequate 4 bed dorm but it was right above the bar area so the music kept me awake til quite late. I was only in Greymouth for 1... More

The hostel is right in the town centre but was nice and quiet. (we had a room at the back). They organised some local tours for us and suggested some place to go that did not cost anything. They made our visit to Greymouth one we will remember as being one of the better places to chillout

We were a group of 5 adults and stayed in an ensuite room with 3 single beds and bunk beds. Bathroom was very small but room was clean with fresh sheets. Staff was very friendly and there's free wi-fi (30-min block per person). Huge shared lounge and kitchen facilities, ideal for travelling couples or friends. You get 2nd free beer... More

We had a long drive down from Marahau to Greymouth in almost Monsoon like conditions, and it was touch and go whether we would actually make it through to Greymouth with many slips blocking the roads and many more blocked by flooding. All we wanted to do when we got off the bus was go for a walk and stretch... More

It was so good to stay in a place where the owners are so passionate at what they are doing. I was on the Stray bus with my girlfriend just two weeks ago and we had an excellent time. We had a double room which was great, the free breakfast was a real help as I'd forgotten to buy bread... More

Duke backpacker is an old hotel that was refurbished for a hostel use. My first impression was all the colors of walls - It's a very colorful hostel (but not gay :) ). I stayed in a single room. It's small but confortable room All hostel is very clean. The kitchen is well equiped. Is center location, near a big... More

This is one of the best hostel that I have ever stayed. Greymouth is quite a boring place but the hostel makes our stay at Greymouth a pleasant one. The staff are very friendly and helpful (I felt so bad I can't recall his name). When we arrived, they upgraded us to a twin room for free. The room is... More
