My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at the Waters Edge B&B in Kaikoura from 14 March 2012. We had a relaxing stay with our hosts providing a very friendly welcome. The accommodation is quiet, modern, clean, comfortable and very spacious. It was like having your own apartment with a lovely deck overlooking the water. The breakfast was self... More

We thought Water's Edge was good value for money and it was the cheapest B&B we stayed at in NZ, so perhaps our gripes are because we'd got used to better places. The space and location are the main pros - it's within a very short walk of a nice pub and the Green Dolphin restaurant. Cons were a very... More

We only stayed one night in Kaikoura, but Water's Edge was perfect for us. The location is ideal, right by the water at the edge of town, quiet spot, but an easy walk into town. The view is spectacular, mountains, sea, the wharf, right outside your door. The room includes a huge lounge and a lovely deck, so lots of... More

Watersedge is located just outside the town centre of Kaikoura - 3 or 4 min drive, 15 min walk. Beautiful view over the bay and excellent hospitality. Breakfast was ok, toast, yogurt, muesli and some tinned fruit. Bed was rather soft. Room was great size and there is also a private lounge to relax in, although much better to be... More

Marilyn and Keith have hived off half their house to create a self contained apartment right on the water. There is a microwave, kettle and toaster but no real cooking facilities if that is your interest. Breakfast is a basic continental offering: bread, cereal, juice, coffee, tea. However for dinner you are right across the street from one of the... More

Our room was in fact half a house, though we had complete privacy with our own entrances, own porch with deck, and even the whole driveway. Very comfy and a view to die for, waking up to mountain n sea right outside our bedroom window. In the evenings if weather permits, sit on the deck n enjoy a glass of... More

Marilyn & Keith were very friendly and accomodating. The view was wonderful. Our "room" included a large sitting area as well as the kitchen area. Deck availability. No on-site internet. Breakfast table was quite tiny. The large space was great for re-packing. Excellent recommendation for a restaurant.

We will never stay anywhere else when in Kaikoura - this is truly the best! It has the rare combination of total privacy as well as the warmth and friendliness of a b& b. All aspects of this amazing accommodation are excellent, and we were tempted not to ever leave! One of Kaikoura's best restaurants is 2 minutes walk down... More

Appropriate value for the $. While the view is good, it's not tremendous. The only reason I say this is if you're in the guest suite, your straight out view is 1/2 over an abandoned fish shack and 1/2 a beautiful view to the water. If you angle your chair just right in the sitting room, you've got a great... More

We stayed with Keith and Marilyn for two nights and wished we could stay longer. The location of their B & B is just superb. Right on the seafront with just a gravel road separating you and the sea. The views of the mountains dropping into the sea are stunning. The accomodation is spotlessly clean, with a nice bathroom and... More
