Good accomodation is at a premium sometimes in Kaikoura, famous for its whale watching. The Bella Vista is a modern motel on the main highway, but not plagued by noise. It's not far to walk to the town centre, where there are restaurants, including the White Morph where the co-owner is the chef). Cooked or continental beakfast is available, and... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights during my tour of the south island. Very nice room, pleasant area and very quiet. Easy access to the beach and to the whale watch headquarters. I highly recommend it.

We arrived without a booking and stayed in one of the cheaper rooms. The room was spotless, the bed very comfortable and the shower warm and powerful. The person at the desk was very welcoming and later very helpful. We thought we might have left a book behind which we later found in a bag - the staff had details... More

Stayed one night, but found this a very good place to stay in Kaikoura. Lovely managers, so helpful and friendly. We were with a group on a car rally and were very impressed with quality and service.

Outstanding motel. Extremely comfortable. Unusually fine and friendly service. Inexpensive. I would recommend this motel to anyone traveling to or through Kaikoura. It would be very hard to find a better place to stay.

Stayed one night Feb 2012 and could not be more satisfied. It is a new motel, and the room was spotless, large and quiet. There was a bit of a sea view, but personally, I wasn't staying there for the view from the hotel- I was traveling thru New Zealand to experience all the natural wonders first hand. My time... More

Stayed at this Motel in February 2012. Motel is in a good position within walking distance of the main street or a couple of minutes by car. Motel rooms are on 2 levels. We were on the first floor with a beautiful view of the mountains. We thought the room was large by Motel standards and it also contained a... More

Despite being on the upper level, the 'vista' was not really 'Bella' a minor scruple really. More disconcerting was the rap on the knuckles from the night manager when I arrived at 8.50 pm when everything in Kaikoura, including Bella Vista's reception, closes at 9 pm. Not a welcome I had expected. Otherwise, basic, clean overnight accommodation.

We stayed here for a night and had no problems with traffic noise at night. It was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Loved the little walk to town and the beach and the park around the corner was absolutely fantastic for our 2 year old made of dynamite! I found the price good in comparison to... More

I arrived to Kaikoura by train and as the following two whale watching cruises were complete I booked the first cruise available and went to the motel. Unfortunately, they don't let me get in because it was 10 a.m. (a few hours before 2 p.m.) and so I left the luggage and go around to see something (not a lot... More
