We stayed two nights in this hostel. It is split in different units which each have a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and a couple of bedrooms. It is very clean and cosy, for a very good price. It was good value, i would recommand it immediately.

Stayed here whilst waiting to go to Fraser Island which we booked a tour through the helpful hostel staff. It's a big house turned into mini apartments. We were in apartment 2 which had 3 rooms in it kitchen/dining/living room area and a bathroom. Our room had 3 beds and the other 2 rooms were twin rooms. So altogether 7...

I stayed here on a Friday and Sunday night, bookending a 2-day tour to Fraser Island. My partner and I stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. It was quick and easy to call the hostel and have them pick us up once we arrived on the Greyhound.
I agree with other reviewers who say this is designed...

I've only stayed here for 2 nights since my tour to Fraser Island departed from Palace Backpackers, which is directly next to the Friendly hostel. As I had a package with Fraser Island and a sailing trip to the Whitsundays in it, I had a voucher for a free night at Palace Backpackers. But even though you pay more or...

Having read recent reviews and their promotional info I was expecting, not suprisingly, a friendly and helpful staff and sound hostel. I think I must have been unlucky but the woman on the desk (who did print out some bus times for me) couldn't even be bothered to show me to my room. The kitchen in the apartment was filthy...

Hervey Bay is not that much of a tourist attraction itself and after visiting Fraser Island I just wanted some rest and relax - and found it exactly here!
Friendly staff, free pick up and drop off and really loved the appartment style they have. Stayed in a female 3 bed dorm - finally a normal bed (and a big...

I've been travelling Australia for a year now, on and off (as an exchange student), and I've never felt more at home in a hostel. The set up is lovely; each room is part of a small "apartment", so you only share bathroom, loungeroom and kitchen with about seven people. I got very lucky in that I was with some...

My husband and I stayed at Friendly Hostel for 2 nights in Hervey Bay. The rooms are good, the suites are clean, the owner is nice. There is no A/C but we were totally fine with the fans.
Since we booked a Fraser Island day tour with him, he offered us free laundry, towels and bicycles.
The kitchen in the...

I stayed here for 4 nights in a three-bed dorm. The room is small, but the beds are good. The staff is really friendly (what's in a name?) and very helpfull with a lot of things. Just ask and they will help you with everything. There is only one bathroom in each unit and the toilet is in it. It...

The hostel itself is fine. Situated near other hostels it is on the main pick up route for most of the Fraser island busses. Although our room, bathroom and common area were very clean we found that the walls were pretty thin and even though there are notices telling people to keep off the balconies after 9:30 it didn't seem...
