Lovely setting and people and great value too. Will be back thankyou when sport takes me back that way next year. A million percent better than a motel with garaging for my equipment too. Brilliant, interesting, peaceful...

We first stayed at Bush Walk in late 2007 when we built up a friendship with Bruce & Sandra. Our return in 2012 was looked forward to with anticipation. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed like old friends. The situation of the house is stunning set amongst the trees giving us a background of birdsong and some good sightings.... More

Dear Gwen and David It was a pleasure being able to host you again. It never ceases to amaze me, the number of people we have stay for only one night and from that point on become great friends, who keep in touch with each other. Hopefully we will see you both again soon in New Zealand or the UK.... More

wonderful people, salt of the earth, very warm, and freindly, wicked location on your way out of nelson city to get an hour on the sun through the buller, better than sleeping in nelson with all the boy racers zroooooming past all night, out here you can sleep in the canopy with the wood pigions and native beech.

Bruce and I enjoy meeting people and can honestly say we love entertaining in our own home. Bruce had this dream years ago that he would have a pole house in the trees with a pottery, and it came true. We want to share our peace of paradise in amongst the tree tops and thanks to the many people such... More

We spent two night with Bruce and Sandra, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. They are wonderful hosts who will do their utmost to make you feel at home. The friendly atmosphere is enhanced due to the fact that this is a small B&B (only 2 rooms), so you're not crowded by a lot of strangers. Due to unforeseen... More

We spent 2 nights with Bruce & Sandra who are truly wonderful, only one house rule "treat it like home". Lovely house, comfortable bed, surrounded by bush and so quiet. We were treated like friends, wonderful food and loads of useful tips and info about the local area and New Zealand as a whole. We didn't want to leave and wished... More

Rating: 15 on a scale of 1-10 From Dec 31st 2009 we spent 3 nights at Bushwalk B&B. Sandra and Bruce took care of us just as if we had been members of the family since a long time - we really felt integrated and finally left as friends. We received excellent advices for sightseeing and hiking in the Nelson... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
ARRIVE A STRANGER AND LEAVE AS A FRIEND. We offer a home away from home in Wakefield, a half hour drive from Nelson City. It is well situated for those who are travelling either north or south and those who want to explore the Nelson region. On arrival you enter a large courtyard with access to a pottery and wood workshop where Bruce will demonstrate how to make a pot on the wheel. Where else can you be offered a chance to make your own pot? My husband and I offer select Boutique accommodation and rent out two rooms in our own home. The house is in a secluded bush setting with an abundance of native birds. As we are locals, we deal with our guests directly giving valuable information of the region, and have escorted guests on boat trips to the Abel Tasman National Park. The rooms are: the Beech (king with private en-suite), which has access onto large wooden deck where guests can sit and relax and watch the native Wood Pigeon's and Tui's come down to bathe in the water bowl and the Totara room (queen-double with shared bathroom (bath only)). Both are named after the trees seen from each room. Although we are a 30 minute drive south of Nelson it is well worth the stay in our idyllic situation. Come and join Bruce and me in our piece of paradise. ... more   less
