From the first welcome cuppa and cookies we found friendly hospitality and attention to our needs. I chose omelets for breakfast, but there was plenty of choice. The views were expansive and stunning sunsets gave us camera- perfect shots. Alan and the team, you were great! We needed this time of relaxation, but there's plenty to do within an hours... More

Luxurious well appointed rooms with direct access to deck giving splendid views over the bay. We were very well looked after by our hosts. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone who is prepared to endure some difficulty in driving the last 1.5kms. It is worth it!!

If you enjoy friendly hosts, superb home-style cooking, luxurious well appointed rooms and stupendous views across the bay to distant mountains then look no further than Parautane Lodge, just a ten minute drive out of Nelson. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights and really appreciated the kind hospitality of Alan and Candace who fed us splendidly and even smiled at... More

What a wonderful break away after a very hectic 2012. I wish we could have stayed longer. To be met after we arrived with freshly baked cookies and a welcoming Alan was great. Breakfast was everything you could want and more. Neither of us found the drive into Nelson any problem when we went into town for dinner and our... More

We stayed for the weekend and were absolutely blown away. The hospitality was amazing and not in-your-face. The rooms were lovely and luxurious - loved the bathroom. Everything was super clean and spacious. Superb views and lots of areas to lie in the sun and relax. Lovely breakfasts - and so much that we didn't need lunch! Wished we could... More

On the outskirts of Nelson but only 10 minutes to the centre of town but a really great location and well worth the travel. Drive up is a gravel road, but is in much better condition than most NZ gravel roads, take it easy and you'll be fine. Well setout lodge with all modern features and the most friendly and... More

Found a deal on Grabone & I am so glad we got it. The drive up the hill is a bit rough, but our little car made it no bother. Didn't drive back in the dark though. The rooms are of a high standard, the bed was really comfortable and having that view to wake up to every morning was... More

This is a great place to have a break and just relax. I had time to read the Guest book for the past seven years and did not find one complaint in any of them. Just consistent praise for the outstanding views, the hospitality and care and concern shown by all the staff, superb breakfasts, and not forgetting the spa.... More

Our 3 days spent at Parautane Lodge were wonderful. The owners weren't there but we were left in very capable hands. The Lodge itself is, as other reviewers have pointed out, up a fairly steep gravel road, our little Honda Jazz manged it well though. Don't be put off by the road - the views from the lodge are definitely... More
