The motel is dated but the owner/ manager made it all the worthwhile. Our new car broke down on arrival to KI and we got to the motel late after having to have it towed. The manager a lovely women was concerned and caring and could not do enough to help us. The room was dated bit clean. We had a spa suite which was a nice touch. The hotel also includes a continental breakfast with plenty of toast and cereal. For the price we paid was good value for money and because of her we would definitely stay again.

I booked here, not expecting too much as the price was right. Arrived and was greeted with a very friendly face, and so polite! She walked us to our room, and it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. The pictures online show rooms clad in a lot of wood panel but ours wasn't like that. Sure, it is dated. It is a Motel. It was functional and we had our rooms tidied and fresh towels everyday. We also had breakfast every morning that set us up on our day of sight seeing around the island. We found the bed was amazingly comfortable and the pillows were great too. If people want fancy they need to pay more and book a hotel or a private stay. Don't go cheap then complain it wasn't 5 star! This place was ran by a lovely friendly couple, who were doing all they could with what they had (they are not the owners apparently). It looks like there are plans to bulldoze and build something very very fancy but time will tell. So, book here if you know and understand what a motel experience will be. It's a lovely spot and a 3 minute walk to the beach and where the market is held.

The first problem we encountered: There was no one in the office when we arrived, though it was before 6 pm. We had to call someone and get them to come over with a key for the room. One of the main reasons we picked this place -- despite the many poor reviews online -- was the swimming pool. My 2 young sons were eager to have a swim. However, we were told: "Sorry, the pool is closed. It’s been closed for a while. There was a crack in the pool." When I asked when it would be fixed, I was told casually "Don’t know if the owners will fix it ...." Then we get to the room, unpack our things, and then get to use our laptops. Having Wi-Fi is critical for us, as we are obliged to perform various business-related tasks every evening. We would NEVER have selected a hotel which does not have Wi-Fi! However, the Wi-Fi didn’t work, and again the manager was totally casual about it. He started telling me a story like a junior school student would tell a teacher. I offered various suggestions as I work in IT, and have some experience setting up Wi-Fi sources in Adelaide. However, once again, no luck! We wanted to move but it was now late at night and it was difficult to get bookings elsewhere. Fortunately my wife had brought along an Optus modem which worked OK, so we had to pay for our own Wi-Fi. No offer to recompense us, if course! The room was cold and lacked various things one takes for granted at any motel or hotel, even the cheapest. There was no soap in the bathroom! The heating system was inadequate. The TV worked only sporadically. There were various insects crawling around! Do yourself a favor -- give his place a miss! They are deceptive, rude and incompetent!

Horrible place, not clean, curtains don’t cover the windows, spot light on all night so no sleep. Creepy lady hovering over breakfast, on offer was white bread, cereal, regular milk, I stand coffee....That’s it! No yogurt, no fruit, no decent coffee, no local produce.... horrid. Mouldy tiles in the shower...I find I can’t say one positive thing about this dump

What a beauty! This hotel, although a little outdated, was the perfect launching point for our three day KI trip Kathy Lou was lovely and accommodating. shots were taken at the end of the road from the motel. A five minute walk.

Disappointed staying here except for the spa bath which was good but the room is outdated. No second pillow and aircon noisy as it’s very old. The fridges freezer was iced up and the room was not cleaned well.

Stayed on 17-05-2019. Reception wasn't open when I arrived at 2:00pm. Rang number on door as was told was 1 hour away. Bed was terrible like over 30 years oid and almost folded in half when i sat on it. Room was dirty. Hair in shower and rusted fittings. Carpet was stained. Was this a rent by the hour room? Manager told me she was recently embezzled for $75000 dollars and doing their best to accommodate. Paid for breakfast but received nothing. Never again!!!

Friends asked me recently about a trip to Kangaroo island and that reminded me the very bad experience i had staying in this place a year ago. The reason why we chose was simply the location as it's walking distance to watch the Pelicans. We had no expectation to stay in a motel as long as everything is working. But oh man, this place is dirty, nothing worked, light switches, wi-fi, door locks, dirty carpets and curtains, beds and sheets are filthy. The worst thing was when you tried to find someone for help, you never got through the line (nobody onsite after office hours). We just had to live with it that night. When we checked out in the morning and i gave feedback to what happened. The guy looked at me like a professional liars and blamed me for not knowing how to operate. This is the most retarded answers i got from this place, they knew nothing about customer services, arrogant and in denial. i can't imagine somebody would think they are friendly, they are nuts. I would never recommend people go staying in this torn down place. TripAdvisor is too nice to start rating from 1. I think this place should be in negative territory ratings.
