The key to understanding this place is that it caters to wealthy British golfers and anglers. It is a destination place for them. This means that there is a certain "understated poshiness" to everything about the place. Not stuffy at all, but clearly it's not a place to dress down or get rowdy. The building is spectacular, the guest rooms... More

really nice hotel with good staff, but would have to question some of the food coming from the kitchen, dinner was very expensive and only of a moderate quality, in the morning food looked good but again lacked quality in breakfast produce (sausages, black pudding etc) and considering myself and friend who ate with me are both in the meat... We stayed here two nights for our friend's daughter's wedding. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Our room was lovely- huge bed, large bathroom and lots of complementary toileteries.(always a plus in my book!) The staff were excellent and were always at hand to provide help and cups of tea and coffee. Drinks and food... More

Stayed here recently with a couple of friends for a golfing weekend. The hotel is very classical with large, comfortable rooms as you would expect. Breakfast and dinner are first class although pricey but definately worth a try. The golf course is fantastic and i would thoroughly reccomend getting a buggy to make your way around it. Overall we had... More

Just delightful from the moment we arrived and until the moment we left. The staff were so very friendly and could not do enough for us. My abiding memory is of returning from a section of the St Cuthberts Way walk, very wet and very dirty, my boots were whipped away and returned next morning not exactly clean but dry... More

Spent 2 nights here for a friends wedding and found it to be most pleasant. The rooms were really nice and pretty much had everything that you would expect apart from one glaring exception - no tea or coffee making facilities! In fairness, it was made quite clear that you could call down to reception and have it sent up... More

Had to stay here whilst working in the area,I discovered that I wasnt the first person to have difficulties using the sat nav to find the place head for the nearest village and then look out for the signs. I was warmly welcomed and showed to my room . The room was large and what you'd expect from this type... More

This is my most favourite hotel ever!!!! We spent our fifth Christmas at the Roxburghe and this was the best so far. Our room was perfect, especially with the open fire and real Christmas tree. The food was exquisite! The atmosphere at the hotel is very relaxed and the staff are the nicest people who cannot for you. You get... More

Beautiful old world charm, in quiet country setting. Beautifully appointed rooms, with excellent service. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant downstairs, and felt thoroughly spoiled. The only downside was poor internet and phone reception, and during our stay the hotel's internet was also down. Beds were very comfortable, our marble bathroom was huge. When we left the next morning,... More

My husband and i have visited the Roxburghe many times over a two year period as part of our wedding preperations. We chose the Roxburghe for our big day as we wanted a small and intermet wedding under one roof. We could not fault anything on our big day, everything down to the smallest detail was taken care of. I... More
