Unlike some earlier reviewers, we enjoyed our two night stay here very much. Stayed here for two nights in a quaint room with a stunning view of the town and river. Bathrooms need a little refurbishing. But the old wooden beam ceilings and old world furnishings are really charming. The property is studded with old artefacts and statues- atmospheric!

Stell yourself against resistance of staff. Building is gorgeous (nevertheless standing there for hundreds of years...), furnishing is atempt to look old, although too many styles and kitchy. You really don't make 5* hotel experience by equiping the rooms with oldish looking wooden furniture and nicely hand painted shutters, dressing up the staff into Middle Ages clothes and use the carpets that my grandma has at home all over the hotel.
