The reason for this is that the owner has another, brand new hotel in the village and seems to use overbooking as an excuse to transfer his guests to the Astoria. They organise private parties in the hotel that last the whole night, don't go there if you want some sleep. They don't warn you for these. No airconditioning in the hot rooms. Unfriendly staff, speaking almost no english. Don't expect an apologize or refund.

A family owned hotel with large rooms and an excellent location within walking distance to the river and restaurants. We were there after the tourist season so it was dead; the restaurant was not open. Fine overall; we would stay there again. This hotel would have got a higher rating but for the noisy main road next door and the late night noise from the night club across the road. This is a good value 3 star hotel, rooms escaped from the 70's but thats par for the course in Balaton, near to the waterfront - visit Karolina's and Oscars on the promenade. On Saturday night there is a nearby bar which rages on till about 2am so not recommended for those not partying. One downside is the reception staff... More

We stayed for one night in Astoria Hotel after leaving Budapest. The Lake Balaton area is beautiful, and Balatonfured is about a 2 hour drive from Budapest.
