We stayed the night and had dinner. room 4 is clean, tidy and spacious. Furniture and fittings are fine although not luxurious by any means. Good oblique view over the harbour. The bar/restaurant is noisy busy and fun. On a busy Saturday night the service was a little stretched, but the food when it came was very good. Reasonable selection... More

We ate at L'Hotel to celebrate our last few nights holidaying in New Zealand. We arrived & were seated quickly. The waitress took our order for drinks, entree & kids meals, & we asked for 5 more minutes to select our mains, which all happened without incident. The entree & kids meals arrived in reasonable time & were really nice.... More

I wasnt expecting much of a room we choose for 1 night as it was the cheapest, but on this occasion cheapest ended up being best! Rooma a little tired, but very clean & had a great balcony. Romm 1 has a great view over the harbour & down to the warf. Went for dinner downstairs later that night also... More

We stayed at L'Hotel for our last night of 11 travelling around South Island. It was a great location with views of the harbour and sun until late afternoon, the service in the restaurant was good and check-in was simple and easy. We had bought too many bottles of wine on our tour of NZ that we needed to drink... More

We spent one night at L'Hotel on Easter Monday so it was very busy. When we registered on arrival, the 'Lassie From Lancashire' on Reception informed us that she had reserved a table in th Restaurant for us, should we need it, as she knew it may be difficult to get a meal due to it being Easter Monday night.... We were in Akaroa in February 2013 for a memorial service for my stepmother, who grew up in Akaroa. We had three of the four upstairs rooms at L'Hotel, which were roomy and comfortably appointed. These are not luxury rooms, but had amenities that would allow cooking in the room if desired, a TV, small table, and balconies. The view... More

Booked this place because of the views & I must say they were awesome.. Once we realised that we had to go into the bar to check in, all was good. Were given milk & shown up to our room. Quite basic but a really big room (room 2). Little kitchenette, but everything we needed. Nice toiletries in the bathroom.... More

Did not stay at the hotel, only ate at the facilities. As we only had a day in Akaroa, we only managed to have lunch at the facility. Food was delivered in a timely manner, considering the heavy traffic of people from the docked Cruise ship from Australia. However, good serviced ended there. There only appeared to be 2 wait... Good room, great location, great rate: shame about the staff party at 230 in the am. When asked to turn the sound down they 'kindly' obliged. Shame the staff proceeded to do burn-outs in the car park. Everyone was very drunk (including the driver), and noisy. When asked for a second time to kindly leave myself and another guest were... My husband and I recently ate at this eatery, and once again it was superb. The breads for starters were yummy and we both had the slow roasted pork belly. It was soooo good, I usually have a steak but felt like a change, and wasn't disappointed. For starters my husband shared a seafood chowder with his sister, they agreed... More
