We spent a wonderful three days/nights at Te Whau, and couldn't have been happier. The Lodge is perched on a hillside with panoramic water views that can be enjoyed from the large common decks as well as from each bedroom's private balcony. Decor is NZ contemporary -- lots of wood and glass, clean lines, nothing fussy to distract from the... More

Driving to the top of Whaiheke the views are magnificent. This is where the lodge sits. Liz and Jean were lovely hosts, going out of their way to make you comfortable. The rooms were simple but very comfortable. Sitting out on the deck soaking in the views and watching the sunsets was a great end to a 5 week trip... More

My wife and I stayed at Te Whau Lodge during Rugby World Cup. Gene and Liz were great hosts. The Lodge and views are amazing. Breakfasts are outstanding. Waiheke Island is an easy half hour ferry ride from Auckland. Conveniently located to excellent restaurants and wineries. Waiheke and Te Whau Lodge couldn't be better. A bit of a hike from... More

My husband and I have escaped to Te Whau three times over the last 8 years. If we could return tomorrow for a fourth time, we would. Liz and Gene are superb hosts with their gentle personalities, genuine warmth and palpable joie de vivre. The lodge is beautifully designed in an idyllic setting and the food is over-the-top delicious. We... More

This lodge is a rare gem. Comfortable and creatively furnished rooms, with wonderful views over the water and to the Auckland skyline in the distance. Above all, the hospitality and friendly relaxed atmosphere created by Liz and Gene was a highlight. We received a warm welcome on our arrival, and the memorable dinner cooked for us that night by Gene... More

We stayed at Te Whau Lodge for 2 days and loved it - the view is gorgeous, the food is outstanding and the hospitality is unsurpassed. Hosts Gene and Liz did everything to make our stay perfect, from arranging a car rental (at a discount too) to helping us with our NZ travel plans. We would definitely will stay at... More

Te Whau Lodge is a beautiful place to stay, and it's run by a wonderful couple, Gene and Liz.. They make you feel right at home and provide you with delicious canapes and wine during happy hour. There are stunning views from the rooms as well as the common area out back. It is not an inexpensive place to stay... More

Te Whau Lodge is a fantastic venue, not only the views and island, but the food, conversation and genuine hospitality were well beyond expectations. I would recommend Te Whau Lodge to anyone who is looking to relax, enjoy a beautiful setting and take time out. Gene and Liz were wonderful hosts, always at hand with a helpful tip about Waiheke... We cannot say enough good things about our stay at Te Whau. First of all, the hosts Gene and Liz could not have been more kind, more fun, more interesting, and Gene is the best chef ever. Our stay with them was absolute perfection. We did not want to leave, and hope that we get to return.
