We mainly chose the Madera because of the location: just two blocks from Dupont Circle. The room was big and comfortable and stylish (the balcony and the sofa were a great extra touch of comfort), although the bathroom was cramped and didn't live up to the bedroom. Wifi was free but didn't always work. Breakfast in the adjacent restaurant was... More

Hello pullogaroua, our location definately suits many travellers to Washington. Close to the Metro, in the Dupont Circle neighborhood with its great restaurants and shopping, and it still retians its local feel and flavor. Thanks for letting us know about the WiFi and breakfast. These are important to make a Guest feel comfortable. We will look into making these better... More

I was pleasantly surprised. My first visit to a Kimpton Hotel. It was clear that management has thought through what they are offering and there are a few welcome unconventional offerings that made it seem as if they cared. Went here because my usual DC hotels (Lombardy and Carlyle Suites) were charging over $300/night while this was much closer to... More

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. It was very nice and cozy. The staff was very helpful, the beds were comfortable. The flat screen tv was very nice to enjoy after a long day of sightseeing and touring and most of the programs were in HD. The mini bar was a nice addition to the room to relax... More

Honeyclk, we are thrilled that your visit to the Madera and Washington was a great one! Our location is great for sight seeing, but you are right that the comfy bed and TV are great to just unwind and relax. I am glad you enjoyed the American comfort food at Firefly. We can certainly look into the pricing of Room... More

We spent two nights here. We wanted to be in the Dupont Circle area and this fit the bill. The hotel room was very large with a balcony -- so nice to open the door and get the fresh air. My only draw back was the size of the bathroom with the shower/tub and toilet -- it couldn't have been... More

Hello Traveler CT, sounds like you were able to take advantage of our great location in Dupont Circle. Close to the Metro and all the great restaurants and activities in the area. In regards to the bathroom size, yes some are smaller than others. They all have the sink outside of the shower area which helps. This is something we... More

Loved this place! Very modern decor...of which I am not usually a fan, but this is done with talent and skill and is a pleasure to participate in. The room was VERY large, with very comfortable beds, and a large comfortable couch. The balcony was an especially nice place to sit out and enjoy the surrounding architecture of Dupont Circle... We stayed at this hotel because of the Trip Advisor recommendations. True that there's no real lobby, but the rooms are spacious, decorated in a fun, unusual way, and quiet. The receptionist had obviously read our requests in the reservation, as she repeated them when we were checking in. We liked the wine hour in the late afternoon. The one... More

Husband and I stayed at the Madera for 3 nights. This was a leisure trip.We enjoyed the Firefly for breakfast, friendly and efficient waitstaff. We had a clean bright room but the bathroom area, toilet and shower so tight, good thing we are not tall or chubby people. I kept banging my arm on the door. They should have put in... More

Hello adventurer26, sorry about the arm bumping, ouch. Pocket doors are a brillliant idea! We are going to go through a rooms renovation soon and this potentially could be considered. Hopefully the desserts didnt hinder your diet regime. I'm sure the DC sightseeing and walking helped. Hope to see you again, Modi Ahmed General Manger More

I stayed at Madera with a very small group of students this past week, on a 4-night visit to DC. After some very strong recommendations, and with the desire to stay at a nice hotel for good value in a convenient location, we chose Madera. I was incredibly happy with this choice. The renovated lobby looks *great* -- much more... More

Very polite and courteous staff, spacious hotel rooms, comfortable and clean beds, and quiet location near Dupont Circle. Unfortunately, there were renovations being done the week I was there (February 29th) but my stay was still very enjoyable. I could not hear any construction noise at all. One minor inconvenience was that I had to use the restaurant entrance instead... More

I've known the Madera for many years having lived in Washington, but now as a traveler to Washington, I appreciate it even more. Ideal for guests who are lost in giant hotels as anonymous travelers. The Madera has just 82 rooms, meaning only about 8 rooms on each floor and as result, they provide a very VIP experience to all... More
