We reserved 1 bdrm with a king sized bed for 2 nights in the main hotel. A day before our arrival we receive an email stating that the amount due at check-in would be $543. We email back and tell the manager that is incorrect. (Actually, we had stopped by the hotel on our way through to Plymouth but no... More

We do regret that we were not able to book this guest into their preferred room. Unfortunately, bookings made through a website other than our own are sometimes at the mercy of the limitations of the other online travel site. In this case, the guest requested a king room for two nights and was told that booking was available, despite... More

The Imperial Hotel is a must if you are traveling to the Foothills. The historic hotel is charming and you can choose your rooms from their website before you go. Sitting on the balcony overlooking Amador City was a highlight of the trip. Make sure that if you want to stay in the hotel that you get one of the... More

A stay in the Imperial Hotel will provide you with a glance back in history. Located in the heart of California Gold Rush country this rustic old hotel has maintained much of the charm that was so prevalent in the mid 1800's during the gold rush days. I suspect that at least some if not all of the furniture in... More

This is a review of the restaurant; we did not stay in the hotel. There are not too many noteworthy restaurants in the Amador foothills but this is one of them. For those readers who do not wish to read my full review,, the primary reasons I enjoy this restaurant are: • It’s location in quiet and charming Amador City.... More

The Imperial Hotel in the tiny Gold Country town of Amador City in the Sierra Nevada foothills is more than 100 years old. That means the floors creak, the stairs are somewhat steep, and a giant ceiling fan cools the room in summer. That's all part of its charm. Add to that, it's perched on the edge of the town... More

We heard about the Imperial Hotel from one of the local wineries in the Sierra Foothill area. It is located in Amador City, a very small, interesting town. The owner met us on our arrival and checked us in, she was a very pleasant person. When we called to reserve a room, there had been two rooms available and we... More

I should have paid attention to the pevious reviews - but instead I let the hotel assign me the room. I was up on the hill in the cottages - which seemed actually good since I wanted to avoid traffic noise - BUT I did not expect to get a room that is basically windowless! If at least somebody had... We stayed one night (1 July) after leaving the Cal Neva at Lake Tahoe. The room was antiquated, which one would expect from an old 1860s restored hotel, but was air conditioned. A good breakfast of pancakes, bacon, juice and coffee was served in the dining room the next morning. We were a trio, wife, grandson and myself. The room... More

I'm glad this guest enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking out little town, but I do want to correct the comment about private baths -- all of our rooms have a private bath with either a shower or tub (two of the suites have spa tubs). More

We would love to review the Imperial Hotel, however, when we booked our room, we were not aware that our stay wouldn't actually be at the hotel, but in another building. Our room was in their "suites" located a full block away and up a hill. Unfortunately, the concept of an annex was not made entirely clear to us and... More

I sincerely regret that these guests' misunderstanding about the location of their room caused their stay with us to be so disappointing. We do generally make it clear to those booking one of our suites that these rooms are in a building separate from the historic hotel building. Many customers prefer these rooms because of the jacuzzi tubs and more... More

We spent the night here over memorial day weekend. This hotel is BEAUTIFUL! tons of character, friendly staff (most of them), great bar downstairs, awesome breakfast. Well thought out rooms. We were with our little girl, but this is definitely a place for a romantic getaway. the restaurant also looks very inviting for dinner. Two little bad points (notice the... More
