This isn't a great hotel, let's be honest. I'm tempted to give it 2 stars, but I don't have the heart. I've stayed here at least 100 nights on business. (There aren't really other choices.) The beds are scratchy, rooms can be very noisy on the park side in the summer. The carpets are at least 30 years old and... More

The rooms are clean, the location is perfect for going anywhere in arcata and the staff is very friendly. Some of the rooms are dated but that's the whole point of the hotel. We plan on staying whenever in arcata.

Hotel Arcata is an historic building on a corner across from the Arcata Plaza. The downstairs of the building includes one of the best Japanese/Sushi restaurants I have ever experienced, as well as some shops with local goods. Arcata only allows local businesses, so you will get a real flavor of the community just by walking this area. It is... More

We stayed in this historic hotel while visiting Arcata for a wedding. It is old, but we live in an old house and enjoy old buildings. The bed was comfortable, and we liked the overall feel of the place. The shower was great -- a large shower head with great water pressure. Everything was clean. The room was a good... More

We like historic hotels but not the high prices associated with historic properties so when we were able to book a standard king room for $99.00 we were Pleased. When we checked in and went to our room, however, we were disappointed because our room had no view. The front desk clerk gave us a king suite for $23.00 more... More

Great old hotel, quaint is a good word. Old photos line all the hallways - great history! the claw foot bathtub was wonderful - hot water any time, with full pressure. Dog friendly - love that! One of the bars nearby had loud music which we could hear on the 3rd floor, so we went out and joined in the... More

This hotel was far and away the worst place we slept in a 3 week road trip of the west coast. We thought that as it was an independent hotel in the centre of town, it would have some charm and appeal that the chain hotels 5 miles away wouldn't. Charm and appeal were two worlds that I cannot use.... More

Great, atmospheric hotel in the centre of Arcata. Bed a little on the small side compared to all the other US beds we'd slept in but more than made up for by the authenticity of the room and hotel.

First I will say that we had a room reserved but did not check in until 10:30pm so maybe we got shafted because if that. The rooms are certainly old school but it you can overlook a claw bath tub sitting on vinyl floor and it smelling like ocean water. The whole room smells musty but you can smell the... More

This hotel is perfect for the college town of Arcata. We could not have asked for a better stay for a room we paid less than $100 for. This old hotel has a great deal of charm and character. The room was large and clean. The bed was very comfortable. It is located smack dab in the middle of town.... More
