The tropics is an average hotel. The rooms are clean, and the building is fairly modern. The Tropics has a great location, and it's close to everything on Caye Caulker.
The rooms were pretty big, and for B$40 a night it was fairly good value. Showers/toilets were a bit grubby, and the sheets weren't the cleanest, but it was acceptable.
The hotel can be quite noisy, depending on the corwd staying there. If people are sitting at the picnic benches in front of the room drinking, don't expect to be...

Keeping in mind it's budget accommodation, I was extremely happy. Amazing location and friendly enough staff. Place was clean, bedding and towels were a bit shabby but did the job. Overall I thought the tropics was great.
if you want your stuff stolen, go to this hotel. if you check reputation of this hotel, you can see that lots of people lost their stuff even when the doors are closed. In this island, there is a fashion that thieves visit your rooms at night while you are sleeping. and they check your door if it is open....

Across the street from a lovely sunny beachfront, nice courtyard and perfect location for all downtown (if you can call it this) ammenities. Wonderful for a calming vacation and perfect for us budget travlers! The frontdesk clerks are bend-over backwards helpful, kind, fun and super sweet (just like EVERYONE here on the Caye!) especially Naomi (sharing her yummy apple custard...

We were sent here from Tropical Paradise after our stay there was abruptly ended with no notice to us. They told us that the hotels did not share an owner or management - but that's not true, they do, as we found out later. Also it was a set-up bait-and switch. We were told by Tropical Paradise that they would...

This hotel is very inexpensive but it was clean. We booked one of the suites with A/C and we discovered the room was not on the premises but down the street on another hotel property. This made it a little inconvienent for check in and out and any time we needed something. The A/C did not work well after the...

Cheap hotel, absolutely no frills. Don't expect much, and bargain hard. Good location. Common area with hammocks just meters away from the beach.
My stay there went fine, It is next to the only bar that can stay open till 3am. As long as you are wanting to stay up and party it is a great location. The bar is not crazy loud but you can hear it. The staff was friendly, the rooms basic but fans worked well and it was adequate....

This is a super cheap concrete dump with lumpy beds. It is like staying in an old bunker. Our room didn't have anything in the way of luxuries, including a towel rack, toilet paper holder, fridge...It is dark, dank and dingy with sand everywhere. The overhead fans are extremely old and look as if they are about to fly off...
