One of the least expensive places that you will find in Belize City, and therefore a good value. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the food was really good.

On the outside staying at this budget guest house may not be a good idea (downstairs rooms too close to the common area, other guests may be too noisy, new paint and repairs to verandahs and steps are advised), but the location on the waterfront in an historic area is ideal, the price is reasonable, the history is interesting, the... I stayed in this place for two nights, in a good private room for which I was charged less than the dorm price.  I think the price was good because the wall doesn't go all the way to the roof... So when people smoked in the living room (like the owner does) I had to breath the smoke. And in... More

I understand the previous comments. I stayed there 22 - 24 JAN 12. My room had screens which appered new. The place itself is not horrid. The folks who run it are great. Their evening meal and beer was good. To say "it needs repairs" is an understatement. The problem is the owner. I arrived mid-day on a Sunday and... More

This hostel was by far the worst value of anywhere we stayed during 12 days in Belize. I agree with every one of the terrible comments before me, including those about the crazy owner with weird relationship troubles and a habit of including his guests in them. I also agree with the disparaging comments about Belize City in general. I... More

I know prices in Belize are a little bit higher than in Guatemala or Mexico but 25 Belize Dollars for a dorm in this Guest House? Kidding? Ok, I had the room on my own but no Mosquito nets in the room or in the windows and a nice local neighbor who watched TV in the shared living room till... More

I stayed in this guesthouse a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed my stay. Adelma is lovely, made a big effort and really made me feel welcome. I really enjoyed meeting the family, Thomas and the baby and found Adelma very warm. It felt more like a homestay than a guest house. The dormitory was clean. Adelma prepared breakfast... More

I took the advice of a guidebook and went to Seaside Guesthouse. I was not the clean and cheerful backpacker hostel I was expecting. It is more like staying in someone's house. The $15 I paid for my room was about what it was worth. I had a roomful of 4 beds all to myself. The hostess Adelma was one... More

Belize City is a disgusting city. Avoid coming here at all if you don't have to. As other tourists, I came to Seaside Guesthouse because of the famous guide book. The owners are warm and friendly, but the rooms are really terrible. Huge cockroaches were dancing on my bed. The toilet was terribly dirty, there were even cigarette butts in... More

Like many other reviewers so far, I was woowed by the Lonely Planet review. Lonely Planet must be on some other planet. I left my book there when I left the next morning. I stayed in the Deluxe room with its own bath & and was charged $35 US. My plan was to stay there for 2 nights while I... More
