My friend and I decided we wanted an adventure and chose Parrot Nest for the first 4 days of it. What a great experience. You felt like you were visiting the home of a good friend. Yes, there were bugs (you're on their turf) and it's not fancy, but we made friends there that I think we will always keep... More

We had a great time staying here. The meals at night were fantastic. Genuine Belize home cooking. Great atmosphere and a very cool liitle room. Everything is basic but importantly clean. Our room was furthest from the other rooms and was peacefull except for the night sounds of crickets etc. real jungle. Theo was helpfull and a great host. Would... More

Lovely setting, good food, great birdwatching, friendly pets and people, tropical forest sounds, river float trip, WOW, and Theo the host goes WAY out of her way to make sure EACH person has all travel adventures in order. She made reservations, gave great recomendations, and drove folks back and forth to town. I took a great bird watching hike with... More

I am sitting at the parrot nest now. My wife and I are on our honeymoon and the rooms are sectioned away from one another so they are private. Omg, the food is great, healthy portions to fill you up after a long day of jungle adventures. Free wifi gives me the ability to write from the lounge area that... More

...lies Parrot Nest. The drive involves a long dirt path enmeshed in tumbling leaves and winding vines. It's a bit of a drive through thick forestry and if at any point you are unsure whether you are headed in the right direction, friendly reminders are tacked onto trees for reassurance. You finally pull up to a circular lot headed by... More

We only stayed a night at Parrot Nest but for those with more time, it would be a great place to base yourself for a trip to the San Ignacio region. The grounds are beautiful and right by the river - we saw kingfishers, vultures, the melodious blackbird and a woodpecker all in the grounds. At night, the sounds of... More

I stayed for two nights at the beginning of my Belize trip in mid-March, and still regret that we didn't just stay the whole week. The lodgings were rustic, no more so than we'd anticipated, but comfortable and inviting; we stayed in a ground-floor cabana, which still felt very treehouse-ey: jungle birds and frogs in chorus at dawn and twilight,... I stayed for 5 nights in mid-March, and booked based on a recommendation from a friend. I was traveling alone and stayed 2 nights in the treehouse and 3 nights in a ground floor cabana. Both are perfectly nice, with a shared bathroom just steps away, and the beds were super comfy. I'll confess I didn't take advantage of the... More

The greatest place to stay, friendly atmosphere, great traditional Belizean food. Lots of trips on offer to amazing Mayan ruins, waterfalls, caves, beaches...a great place to relax and chill.

If you seek a laid-back tropical lodging experience, Parrot Nest may be for you. Theo and staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a wonderful vibe that comes from like-minded travelers who seek a more homey and familial sharing of experiences. Gather around the dinner table, recount your day and plan the next! I stayed here for a week... More
