Hobbies Hideaway surely was the vacation of a lifetime. Was secluded away from the busy parts of the Island. Just a short taxi ride for $1.50 would take you to where the nightlife was full of drink, bands and dancing. I spent every day going to different parts of the Island but was always happy to come back to Hobbies... More

We stayed at Hobbies Hideaway for a week, wasn't long enough. John and Sue are great hosts. We were picked up at the airport, John took us shopping so we could get our supplies for the week. A great touch was a cell phone with minutes to call home, or taxis or whoever we needed. They have the best spot... More

My wife and I recently returned from an amazing week at Hobbies in Roatan. We thoroughly enjoyed the island and found the accommodations to be just what we were looking for. John & Sue went out of their way to help us accomplish everything we were looking to do, and exceeded our expectations, overall the value of the stay was... More

The most remarkable things about this small hotel are the host and hostess, John and Sue (and their niece who was visiting). John met us at the airport and arranged a taxi ride for us to the hotel. Although the restaurant is no longer open, there was everything we needed to prepare meals in our apartment. Not only did John... More

The facts: Provided airport transportation. Took us to store to get staples. Arranged for seafood delivery. Clean room. Amazing views. Secure. The feel: John and Sue are amazing hosts. From the moment you get there you feel like family. John takes you to the local market to get some staples (rum, fresh fruit, rum, meats, more rum) as soon as... More

Readers might be confused about the references to the restaurant - Sunshine Cafe - at Hobbies. Hobbies continues to rent accommodations, but the restaurant is closed. Closest restaurant is just a little west along the road - The Blue Parrot.

Hobbies Hideaway chose to close the Sunshine Cafe after 6 years of operation. It was a very difficult decision as we had many returning guests and patrons. As owners it was more than Sue and I could keep up with. The Blue Parrot is the closiest to our location. There many good restaurants just a short ride by taxi. Our... More
