The first thing that we noticed was that the staff didn't seem very friendly or welcoming. You felt a bit like you were an uninvited guest at their home. The room that we stayed in was cold when we arrived and it never heated up. The hotel wasn't even a quarter full yet they put us in an "ajoining" room.... More

Room was typical, nothing special one way or the other. Room was very clean and well appointed. Interesting thing was the bottom dresser drawer would not stay closed. This was actually a safety issue, particularly in the middle of the night. Notified the front desk, who said they were aware of the problem, but said that it must be due... More

I actually signed up for yelp just to write this review. I travel all over the country on business and stay at Marriott's all the time. When scheduling this trip I originally made my reservation at the Courtyard in West Des Moines, but as I was traveling into Ames, I saw the Fairfield off the side of the road and... More

This was a good value for money property. The breakfasts were good enough and the rooms were spacious and well appointed. Can't find anything really wrong with it. Staff were helpful and responsive. I'd stay there again if in Ames.

I would first like to say that the level of service that I received from the front desk clerk, Jessica, and general manager, Gary, was absolutely outstanding!! We had two adults and two small kids for this visit. I was pretty disappointed with the size of the rooms as we couldn't even fit a small airbed on the ground for... More

Only thing that I would say that was a negative was that there was not a printer by the business center for me to print some forms off. Very clean hotels with very nice staff and a great location right off U.S. Highway 30 near I-35.

The greet staff are friendly and the warmth from the fireplace in the small lobby is very welcoming. Our suite was tastefully decorated and we appreciated the layout of the room. It felt spacious and we felt at home when we invited friends over for coffee in the evening. We were in Ames for a wedding at the ISU campanile... More

Let's start off with the location. This is Ames, Iowa, so there are no upscale choices. The hotel is conveniently located just off the highway, clustered with several other National brand hotels. We had a suite overlooking a corn field, which is much cooler then it sounds! The room was decent sized, has a fold out couch and two TV's.... More

I was thrilled to discover I wasn't in one of the usual places I stay when in Ames. This was new, clean, comfy, spacious, and the staff was great. Not walking distance but a straight shot to NVSL and lots of restaurants.

Nice and clean. No compliants. Don't use the issac Newton part of the address for GPS. Just use the SE 16th portion. Close to university withoiut being too close. Be careful with the gas station several of us realized we were overcharged for fuel by .20.
