After feeling a little apprehensive about staying in a traditional Riad, as opposed to one of the larger resorts, we have to say it was great and would definitely do it again! Although not a luxury resort, it has traditional beauty. And you have to remember it's at least 18th century. The staff at Riad Catalina are meticulous about tidying... More

Riad Catalina is ideally located. We stayed in a blue room which I don't think is listed on their website. It was very small and the walls were stained and grubby considering the price we expected better. The courtyard was pretty and the breakfast was good. Noise insulation in the room was pretty non-existent so we were woken up every... More

The Riad Catalina is a characterful building, centrally located handy for most of the attractions of Marrakech. We were on a budget and got the cheapest room. It was cheap for the reason of being tiny! It also was windowless but very quiet! Not for claustrophobics or the very tall (Can't stand to pee in the miniscule shower room) That... More

The Catalina is a gem, tucked away down a series of alleyways but only a few minutes from the main square and the noise and madness that tipifies Marrakech. We stayed for 7 days. The courtyard in the Riad is beautifully decorated, cooled by a water fountain and inhabited by fancy pigeons and many small birds who will cheekily try... More

Riad Catalina is a tranquil oasis within the chaos of Marrakech. I have just returned from 4 days there with a friend and am so happy we decided on the riad over one of the large soul-less modern hotels away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina. I am not disregarding those hotels but one wouldn't get the same... More

If you truely want to experience the real Marrakech then you have to stay in walking distance of the Jema el Fna. Otherwise, you could be located in the plushy purpose-built modern hotels a few kilometres out of the city and be ferried into the centre by shuttle bus. My wife and I stayed at ths beautiful Riad tucked away... More

As previous reviewers have said, don't be put off by the approach - it's typical for Marrakech! Once inside you enter a fantastic courtyard which is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, no more than a few meters from the door. The rooms are well decorated and serviced and the location of the riad is... More

We spent 7 nights at the Catalina in January 2013. Booking through Thomson, we paid £400 each for flights and B&B at the riad, which was a really good deal. As others have said, the riad is reached down an unpromising alley - don't be put off! This is typical of Marrakech, amazing places are hidden behind doors and in... More

The reviews here are on the whole rather balanced, I feel. The Riad is a great place to stay in terms of location, price and service from the staff team. However, we found the bed a little too firm and having sheets instead of duvet didn't suit us (having said that we didn't ask if they had duvets, so they... More

Excellent location in the Medina, easy walk to the main square and attractions in the Old Town. The staff are very helpful and work hard and long. Our room was on the first floor with a window into the courtyard, it was smallish but fine the bathroom was large enough for us. Breakfasts were a bit repetitive and boring really,... More
