We found the room that we had to be big, dark, dimly lit and not to our liking. The shower did not drain. There was a dark corridor that we had to go through to arrive at the room. It needed some lighting. The only good part of our stay here was the dining area and the food was good.

I was born in Morocco and I had not been back for some time. I took my wife and my daughter and toured Morocco for three weeks. We spent four days at Riad Meknes. The experience was incredible. The rooms were comfortable and the service was great. We enjoyed breakfast on the patio upsatairs with Moroccan pastries and breads. We... More

The Riad Meknes was the absolute low point of our October 2010 holiday in Morocco. On arrival there was confusion as to whether we had a booking or not. This despite obtaining an email confirmation just before leaving Australia, and then again phoning ahead from Marrakech two days before arriving, to be doubly sure. We suspect they had messed up,... Friendly, helpful staff in a family run riad with beautiful, clean, comfortable, air conditioned rooms represent staggering good value for money. We arrived in Meknes late at night with nowhere to stay, and they found a room for us and kept the restaurant open late to serve us food. Fantastic food, and again staggering value for money. The Riad is... More

A truly poor experience from start to finish over a period of three days. With maybe one exception, the staff were rude, unhelpful and below par. Our reservation was "lost", the toilet backed up, the whole riad was run down and in need of a good clean. The food was also less than impressive. For what was offered, the riad... More

The hotel is hard to find, hidden in between small streets, not properly in the medina (but not so far from it; walking distance). It is not a typical "riad" as one expects for the name; it is more like a modern building around a mid-size patio with a nice cactus garden and a small swimming-pool, with not-so-clean water. The... We have been for three days in this riad. The pictures in the website were beatiful and we opt for one of the best rooms. Once there we had the first problem: our reservation was not found (???). Then we got another room for the same price we paid, but with just a small window close to the ceiling (so... More

I was surprised (not in a good way) when I finally got to Riad Meknes. This was for sure one of the usual nice-websIte-traps everyone probably already fell at least once. Service was poorly, almost non-existent. There was no manager or anyone close to a manager to stand up for the hotel. Noone spoke english. There were employees sleeping on... More

we took the name from the "lonely planet guide" as we wanted a restaurant for a one-day trip. We saw that the place is beautiful, all the descriptions above are right. But the staff is not friendly and the food is not fantastic. Maybe we were unlucky to get the only impolite (male) waiter. The menu is printed in plastic... More

Riad Meknes is a lovely oasis amid the winding streets of old town, Meknes. Difficult to find: yes, as everything is in the Medina if you are not a native. Your best bets are to 1, be alert for signs for the "Restaurant Riad" immediately upon entering the medina; 2, e-mail the riad for their recommended walking route; 3, have... More
