In may 2012 my wife and I stayed in this hotel for 19 days. The hotel is centrally situated in the city centre, has excellent staff who takes care of all the details, has large garden and large swimming pool. The breakfast and new restaurant with theme nights is the best in town. At breakfast try local dishes like mandazi... More

Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant (next to the breakfast room) is excellent. I never expected to go to Tanzania to have such good dinners. Pity about the music loop in the restaurant, though. Bland bland (yes, bland) music that contrast with the smiles and service.

I have stayed at this hotel when it was Movenpick for years (2009-2011) and no that is it Serena (late 2011+). It's basically the same, good rooms, comfortable beds, very nice swimming pool and breakfast buffet, adequate gym and VERY centrally located to the business district (handy). Food is reliable, but not amazing sometimes -- although Serena says that they... More

The Serena (used to be Movenpick) has a lovely garden and pool area, so it means that you can relax and rest in the city. The hotel is only 20mins from the Airport (except in rushhour) and so if you need to have a sleep before flying on it is also a good option. The bar has a singer on... More

The hotel is very nice, new, clean and modern. There are still a few hitches. When I checked in my room wasnt ready-but I saw them give another person a room ahead of me, to which I complained and they just said I would have to wait. When I finally got my room the key did not work, they need... More

The Serena have recently taken over this hotel (formerly Movenpick). It is a city Serena hotel. So you get just that. Nice, easy location and full of business people mainly. I came with young children who were very welcomed. There is an effort of Sunday entertainment by way of bouncing castle and face painting - aimed at the families coming... More

I've traveled throughout Africa and have encountered some good and bad hotels. This is a good one. It was clean, the service was good and the pool is amazing. I wasn't a fan of the food - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Either way, if you're in Dar es Salaam, this is your best bet and I commend... More

Good vibe, nice bar area with a great Jazz singer on the weekends. I requested a shuttle to pick me up which cost $30, not sure how much it is from other services. Nice lawn in the back to relax, and the dinner buffet was ok. Internet is $10 a day unless you buy a package, and all rooms come... More

This property has some way to go before raching Serena standards. My standard room was fine but some details had not been attended to. The room service menu was dirty and had tape to hold it together; the internet came and went. In the gym all three running machines were out of order although the pool was nice. The staff... More

Stayed twice for one night, once at the beginning adonce at the end of our Northern Tanzanian Safari and week in Zanzibar. In the three weeks between Serena had already improved the menu in the gourmet restauarant and second time round it was really nice. Very friendly staff there too. The second time we had aroom overlooking the Golf Course... More
