My husband and I forged ahead with our honeymoon plans in Tanzania despite Covid concerns and we are so glad we did. We stayed three nights at Lemala Kuria Hills and would recommend to anyone who wants an incredible location in the middle of the Serengeti with the friendliest staff and luxurious details. Every tent had amazing views of the expansive Serengeti from seemingly every angle - including the bathtub and outdoor shower. We had INCREDIBLE game drives with Simon, who was so knowledgeable, which exceeded our every expectation - seeing a leopard (with cub), cheetahs, lions (with cubs), a wildebeest crossing, crocodile eating, hippos, elephants, giraffes, zebra, mongoose, etc, etc, etc!! And that was only in 2.5 days. We had delicious picnic lunches in the bush each day to make the most of our time and then when we returned from the guides each day, had wonderful night. Our last night, the staff, including Nelson, Chacha, Rahim, Robert and everyone else, went above and beyond- first setting up romantic sunset drinks, followed by a private, romantic setting by the pool and then a surprise bathtub filled with petals when we returned to the room. One afternoon, I also had a wonderful massage with Lucy in the most incredible spa location overlooking the bush with rain falling on the roof. For Covid, the staff was extremely precautious always wearing masks and sanitizing and there was a hand wash station at the common tent entry.

We arrived at Lemala Kuria Hills early evening after a long day, travelling through the Serengeti by road to be greeted with a warm welcome from Rebecca and Andre, again Covid -19 protocols fully observed throughout our two night stay. After a welcome drink and introduction to the Lodge we were soon into our (WOW Factor) tent; amazing design and elegantly furnished throughout. with a terrace with plunge pool.. We made our way back to the bar for pre-dinner drinks, (included in the price), followed by a three course dinner with choice of menu well prepared and presented on piping hot plates. Escorted back to our tent after dinner to find hot water bottles had been placed in the bed. Waking in the morning, opening the curtains to find a sliding glass window with a view over Kuria Hills filled with Wilder Beast was a truly memorable experience and perfect start to the day. A hearty Breakfast with a cold buffet; fresh fruits, pastries, toast, cereals, juices followed by a choice of hot items all well cooked and presented, We continued our safari with a picnic lunch presented in a picnic basket with s/s cutlery plates cups/saucers, linen napkins, fresh cold salads and chicken wraps, fresh fruits, juice, fresh coffee/tea the team are very professional and friendly offering many personal touches to the overall experience. Thank you to all the Lemala Kuria Hills team….we did not want to leave…. We did leave the towels but we did take the views home! Hope to see you all again.

On the last four nights of our custom safari in Tanzania, we stayed at Lemala Kuria Hills. What a treat! The location perched on a hill between giant boulders is stunning. The "tents" are spacious, beautiful and luxurious. We loved the deck with plunge pool where we could sit after safari and still see animals. The outdoor shower (there is an indoor one as well) was always a refreshing treat. The bar, dining room and deck are gorgeous, and the food was great. But most of all, it was the people that made our stay so spectacular. The knowledge and skill of our guide, Steven James, made it possible for us to see two wildebeest river crossings, a herd of elephants also crossing the Mara River, a leopard that had a kill in a tree, a pride of lions, many hippos, zebras, giraffes, crocodiles and more. I had challenged him to find us a black rhino (there are so few, and there had not been a sighting in two weeks)...and he did! We had so many great laughs and so much fun with Steven. We also had great conversations with Leanne, a CEO with Lemala. Nelson, a camp manager, went above and beyond to get us out of a pickle when we forgot our passports. On our last night, he had three comfy chairs waiting for us on the deck so we could watch the sunset. And he arranged for a special cake that the whole staff delivered to our table while singing a traditional song and dancing. It was so sweet and touching! And we always loved seeing the young lady at the reception desk because her contagious laugh would just make your day. I highly recommend treating yourself to a stay at this beautiful place.

We visited the Lemala Kuria Hills lodge as part of a safari with our family of 5 (kids ages 7, 10, 12). It was a truly extraordinary experience. The setting is gorgeous (we arrived at lunchtime- as we ate lunch on the patio we saw a family of giraffes walking by the property! What an introduction!). But, be prepared to need an escort at night because the animals will walk through the camp. The food was delicious and they accommodated our son’s celiac disease and my wife and son’s pescatarianism. The rooms are stunning with gorgeous bathrooms, outdoor showers, a deck with a dipping pool, sitting rooms, a personal fridge (stocked with your preferences), and water that is purified so you can use it to brush your teeth etc. The walls facing the Serengeti are glass and provide perfect views. The staff was universally kind, accommodating and helpful. Greg, the manager, stood out with his stories about life in the bush; fascinating our children with near misses and tips on managing life around the animals. And, of course, the game drives were remarkable. Eugene, our guide, was easy going, clearly excited by every part of his job (even the birds!), knowledgeable and relentless in his pursuit of the coolest sightings (cheetahs, leopards, lions and hyenas). I believe he has X-ray vision based on his ability to spot the elusive game! I simply can’t say enough about this experience. It was the best thing we’ve ever done and our stay at the Luria lodge was a huge part of that. PS. This was the second Lemala property we stayed at during this trip and the other was equally as impressive

On our recent trip to Tanzania, we experienced an amazing 4-day stay at Lemala Kuria Hills. Kuria Hills is a tented lodge in the northern Serengeti close to the Mara River, and it is absolutely beautiful. Each isolated tent has a comfortable bedroom, a lovely sitting room and an indoor and outdoor shower. The rooms each have a deck and plunge pool. You can enjoy the beautiful surroundings from your specious deck or from your room, which has extra large glass doors. All of our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Several days in order that we could spend more time viewing animals, we took a yummy packed breakfast or lunch with us. Despite uncooperative weather, Leanne and her staff made every effort to see that we had a romantic evening dinner outdoors, as well as a special sundowner with a fantastic view of a Tanzanian sunset.

While we were there for four wonderful days, Leanne, the CEO of Lemala, was our hostess. She could not do enough to make sure that everything was perfect during our stay. We especially enjoyed visiting with her on several occasions. Others to mention that made our stay so enjoyable were Godwill and Chacha. They were terrific in serving us drinks and meals and great fun to visit with. They as well as the rest of the staff made our visit extraordinary. We really felt like VIPs! We were very fortunate to have gotten to spend time at Kuria Hills and can only hope to return for another visit someday!

From the moment we landed at the Kogatende airstrip, we had a phenomenal experience staying with Lemala Kuria Hills. My wife and I were blown away by the lodge and it made for an exciting, adventerous and romantic honeymoon experience. The location is fantastic, located close to the Lemai Wedge as well as the hilly land that elephants, lions and leopards love to roam. On separate days we say monkeys, baboons, zebra and elephants all right off our private balcony while cooling off in our plunge pool. The food was fantastic and dinners were so much fun with Chacha and Godwill teaching us Swahili phrasing and making delicious cocktails. John and Joshua were both fantastic, going above and beyond to ensure we were up for early game drives, balloon rides and anything else we needed. The kitchen staff were also fantastic, creating delicious meals! Once a meal was finished, as soon as we returned to our room housekeeping had made it spotless (and in the evening, turned it down by setting up the mosquito netting and adding hot water bottles to the bed for warmth and comfort). On our last night, we had sundowner cocktails out on a rock overlooking the Serengeti to see the sunset and ate dinner under the stars, it was simply magical. I can't finish this review without mentioning Miraji, our incredible guide through the Serengeti who showed us everything from lion cubs to the Great Migration. I am certain that guides simply do not get better than him! If you are considering a trip to the Serengeti, you have to include a stay at Lemala Kuria Hills.

My Husband and I stayed at Lemala Kuria Hills for the first stop of our Honeymoon in September 2022 and could not have more wonderful things to say about the staff, accommodations, and attention to detail Joshua and John (Lemala camp managers) took to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay.

First to start with the accommodations, the rooms are incredible and have a full seating area, two sink bathroom, indoor and outdoor rain showers, full size tub, all in addition to a large outdoor patio with seating area, lounge chairs and plunge pool. Moreover, they pre-stocked the room with red wine and champagne as they knew we were celebrating a honeymoon and did a lovely display for when we first arrived. The rooms basically felt like you were staying in a luxury hotel in the middle of the Serengeti. The camp also has a main area for dining / lounging which has a beautiful view of the sunset, as well as a separate pool area for the guests.

Food at the camp was also lovely (mostly western style dishes) and you always had different options for each course every night. Our server Nassoro (Nas) was also extremely attentive in making sure we had everything we need, as well as remembering any preferences we had from previous meals and proactively making sure we didn’t have to ask for anything twice in that regard. The camp also had a separate bar area where you could go before dinner and Goodwin (apologies if I misspelled) made fantastic cocktails each night. After a long day of game drives, it was always relaxing to come back to the camp.

Lastly, the game drives (open air vehicles are a must FYI - which Lemala has). A huge part of why my husband and I enjoyed Lemala so much was due to our safari guide, Steven James. Having someone who is passionate about their own job take you around and show and teach you about the animals really made all the difference. Steven was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and tries to give his guests a world class experience on his game drives. For reference, we did another camp in a different part of Tanzania with a different guide before leaving and both my husband I commented that you could notice a stark difference between a guide like Steven who was passionate, vs a guide who was just taking you around as part of his job. If you go to one of the Lemala camps definitely try to get Steven as your guide and I promise you won’t regret it.

In summary – Lemala Kuria Hills was all around fantastic and we could not have asked for a better trip. Hope this helps anyone who is looking for places to stay – we would highly recommend staying here.

The entire team did everything they could to ensure that our stay was as perfect and flawless as it could get. The hospitality they showered us with was incredible and their attention to detail was meticulous. It is quite astonishing to discover that Lemala is apparently already one of the cheaper accommodation options in the Northern Serengeti region and yet we were treated like royalty nonetheless.

Small touches like wet refreshing towels after the game drives & setting up the insect netting for us every night left us with a great impression. The management also paid a lot of attention to being environmentally-friendly with no disposables being used on the premises. Needless to say we were fed well and looked after well too.

We had the privilege of being assigned Raheem as our driver and guide for the game drives and he was amazingly experienced and composed for such a young chap. We encountered leopards, watched 3 migration crossings and even had the chance to witness a kill in action all thanks to this professional guide.

On top of that, Greg the GM, Joseph, Jonathan, John, Joshua, Nasayo, Goodwill, Diana and the rest of the crew gave us an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. We only hope we were good guests and hope that the staff will also be appropriately rewarded in return!

I don't have words to describe how memorable our experience was. We were a family of four and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the kids' graduations from high school and college. Our tents were fabulous, beautifully decorated and everything that we could possibly need was available. Daily complementary laundry service was very helpful and allowed us to pack light. The bathroom are very spacious. Everything was spotless. The view from our balcony was gorgeous. All the common areas are beautifully and comfortably decorated. It is a place to wind down after a day of game drive and relax over drinks and good food. The food was amazing as well. I was not sure what to expect because I had opted for vegetarian food but I was very pleasantly surprised . The daily Rahim special cocktails were to die for. I have no idea what was in it but it was different every night and it was excellent. But what made this place stand out was the very personal and caring service and the game drives. Nelson, the manager made sure that he greeted us daily, asked about our day and on the last day he arranged complementary champagne in our tent to celebrate our anniversary. In addition, he arranged for us to have our evening drinks on top of a rock ( picnic style) while watching the amazing sunset. My son opened his first ever bottle of champagne to celebrate his graduation! And if that was not enough, there were two caked and lots of singing and dancing to celebrate our anniversary and graduations. Odamas our waiter/butler provided excellent service every day. Last but not the least, our safari guide Steven was simply amazing. A true lover of wildlife and very knowledgeable. I had told him jokingly that he had to show me leopards, lions, the great migration and the Mara river crossing........we saw it all!!! Steven went out of his way to track leopards and lions so we could see them up close. He was also very entertaining and had great stories to tell. He was also incredibly patient and taught us how to truly appreciate the wild life by spending time just observing the behavior of the animals. A truly unforgettable and memorable experience.

More like ten stars! 🌟 From the moment we arrived, we were in love with Lemala of Kuria Hills. We were greeted after a full day game drive with a warm welcome by not only the staff but also management with hot moist hand towels infused with eucalyptus. Any special requests or food allergies were of question immediately upon arrival by Joshua, a manager, to ensure our stay would be pleasurable. He was very attentive at every turn to see if there was anything at all that we needed during our 3 days there. My husband and I were just simply blown away at the level of service this establishment provided us. We have traveled extensively throughout the world and have never encountered the level of personalized service with attention to detail. Our tour guide MJ not only educated us on the various animals and birds in the area but also the geological and cultural elements of each location. Nas was the most amazing server, making sure that me as a vegan had the appropriate dishes, which were absolutely delicious. Oh, and the food is AMAZING. They even arranged a private surprise champagne picnic on a large rock overlooking the Northern Serengeti to celebrate our honeymoon. We had multiple warm and friendly conversations with Rebecca, Andrea, and Joshua, all managers of the lodge. I had the BEST massage of my life while being serenaded by multiple songbirds of the Serengeti. Godwill, the bartender made my husband delicious cocktails with a generous pour. Jeska, our room attendent, made the most beautiful welcoming with champagne and rose petals to celebrate our honeymoon. I could go on and on. What we loved best during our stay was the pleasure of getting to know all of these amazing people who truly put their heart into what they do.
