The hotel is really the best in touzer. But it is not what you expect after seeing the beautiful website. The architecture is great, but the facilities are poor: frigobar doesnt work, the food is poor! The service almost doesnt exist. Only one person to serve such a big hotel hosting several big groups at once. We tried to call... More

We spent a night at the Dar Cherait in November (prior to our Sahara excursion) and we had a great time here Starting with our *very early* check in (we took the overnight train from Tunis and arrived to Tozeur at 6am in the morning), to a relaxing tea on the pool side and a walk through the gardens to... Firstly I must say that a special rate was given to us because we stayed at the hotel the last days of August, so in full Ramadan. During this period very few other rooms were occupied by other guests. The two ladies at the reception were the only members of the staff that did not satisfy us completely, giving us... More

This is a charming property. Architecturally, the property is attractive and has a very Tunisian feel to it. The public spaces are decorated in a lavish traditional style -- domed ceiling, wood carvings, lamps, oil paintings and heavy fabrics. The interior offers great photo opportunities. The pool and spa are also attractive and the poolside has very comfortable canopied day... More

We haven't spend the night here since we found a lovely place closer to the city that is not in the zone touristique (Residence L'Oued) but we did have dinner here. It was like a dream. The whole building, the staff, the garden, everything is like a tale from 1001 nights. The food was good and not overpriced. The hotel... More

I felt I was at Disneyland, not because of the "fun" and the energy of the place, but because I felt the hotel wasn't real, that it somehow was part of a movie set. Turns out I was close, if I understand correctly what I was told and surmised. The hotel, along with other "five star" hotels, are in a... More

when you walk up to the dar cherait your breath is taken away. it is stunning. walking into the lobby is no less amazing. it's huge and stunning. the staff are all very helpful. however, the rooms are lackluster. it looked like a room you'd find at a motel on the highway in the united states. sparse, bad art. not... I found this hotel a lovely place to stay. The architecture is incredible; it used to be a Sultan's palace. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were fine. The food was OK, but the ambiance of the dining room was great. The adjoining Dar Cherait museum was very interesting.

If you are visiting Tunisia in the heat of the summer, look to a more modern facility. This hotel is an attractive architectural curiosity, but if good air conditioning, a pleasant pool, or other modern conveniences are important to you, consider choosing a newer hotel. We found the staff unresponsive, the rooms dark and ugly, and the food mediocre.

Very nice architechture and a pleasant room. Service was friendly but the bar was uncongenial. All in all, not worth the c.150 quid we paid for our room for one night.
