My first time in Ethiopia so I have nothing to compare it to but this is a great little hotel with friendly staff. I will echo a few points about the general decor as it is shabby to say the least and the I wouldnt recommend eating there apart from breakfast as there are plenty of decent little cafes /... More

I cannot believe some of the scitics here are writing about the same Hotel as I am! The Ras Amba is a great place to stay. I have made use of this hotel many many times, along with many of my colleagues and we have received nothing but great service from the staff and management. Iam allowed to hold meetings... More

The rooms are somewhat basic, and the water and internet access are a bit unreliable at times, but then they are in most places in Addis. This hotel has wonderful staff, and a rooftop terrace where you can sit with a beer and a peasant sandwich after work, and relax. If you want to go out for dinner, the hotel... More

This hotel needs an upgrade for sure. The owner/manager obviously does not care about details (electrical cables hanging, lamps falling appart, crappy carpet, disgusting shower curtain , poor door lock etc), internet is to be paid extra and works randomly. Humidity is high and makes the bed damp and cold. Food was OK, I am glad I haven't seen the... More

Stayed two nights, the rooms are small, the beds and carpet very old. I have stayed in old buildings that are nice, but this one needs some TLC. Very basic for $52 US. The only real complaint is the non-stop dog barking if you have a balcony view and the call to prayer which starts at 0430. Staff were very... More

I've never complained before about a hotel -- but this experience was so bad I felt the need to do so. To start the hotel is $70 USD per night -- and claims to offer free wireless, and cable TV. Nothing about this place is nice -- let alone luxery. The rooms are small, no safe, the closet didn't work,... More

The “hot” water is lukewarm , screenless windows allow free entry to wasps and bees, the beds are dumpy, there’s a disagreeable bad smell, there are no safy deposit boxes and the far-out location is inconvenvient. It’s worth $25.00 but they try to charge $75.00 ! We moved to the Dreamliner Hotel which is 25% more expensive but 200% better !

Ras Amba Hotel is set on a hill with good views from the front facing rooms. The rooms are a decent size, well appointed and clean. The hotel offers free airport pick-up, but my pick up managed to get mixed up despite a confirming phone call to the hotel the day before my arrival. The restaurant's menu needs interpretation, fish... More
