It's hard to beat the Opium in terms of value. Staying here won't break the bank, and they have everything you need: quiet rooms, swimming pool, restaurant, bikes, kitchen units in some rooms. My girlfriend and I stayed here for almost a month because of COVID 19, and we didn't regret it. The staff and manager go out of their way to meet your needs, and will even pick you up at another hotel for free (something we've done twice already!). It's a courtyard-style hotel, meaning almost no outside street noise and lots of trees around, and it's in an area that seems more 'local' and less 'touristy' than others. The only noise issue is the birds!

Stayed here in a suite from January to May 2020. The staff was over the top accommodating for anything I needed. When the lock down started, they adjusted accordingly to make things more accessible and comfortable for guests with food, prices, etc. Super nice people there all around.

It's also a really nice location. Walkable, close to a great local market, many food venues, and maybe 5 minutes to the old city. The apartment/hotel is really nicely laid out with vegetation all throughout the area.

Just spent a fantastic week here. A 25 minute walk or short taxi ride to the centre makes this a very convenient spot to stay. Tucked away and surrounded by huge plants, it's a real escape from the noise of the city. The rooftop was fantastic for watching sunsets!

The room was cleaned whey day to a high standard and we had peaceful sleeps every night. Fridge and microwave really appreciated for keeping snacks and the safe made us feel very secure leaving our stuff.

The staff on the front desk are super helpful with everything from booking taxis to teaching you a few Thai phrases to get by.

Couple of suggestions. The pool was beautiful to sit around and dip feet in. But it was far too cold to swim in, even with high temperatures in middle of day. The hotel could invest in heating the pool up a few degrees maybe.
The breakfast was fine. They serve an American style breakfast, with sausages and egg etc but it is ok at best, I'd prefer it to not try and cater to westerners and serve up Thai style breakfasts and more selections of fruit. But this is only nitpicking in an otherwise fantastic week!

Thank you for a superb holiday!!!

I chose to stay at the Opium Chiangmai from the recommendation from my friends to stay at this hotel on Tuesday 15 Sep 20. The hotel has excellent services and very good staff’s attitude. The environment here is amazing. The hotel has a very good promotion at 600 THB/night for Standard room and 1-bedroom Grand Suite at only 800 THB/night. I will definitely come back again. The Opium Chiang Mai!!!

One of the nicest places I have stayed at. The people who work here go out of their way to help you out and provide you with everything you need. They helped us with everything from planning the rest of our vacation to ordering food and learning local phrases and names of dishes.

The staff at the opium are so accomodating and the hotel is set off in a quiet corner off the main road. We loved coming back after a long day of touring. The hotel has a nice rooftop terrace on the south and west side of the hotel which was a nice oasis to read and relax. Breakfast was very good value at 120 baht per person. Plentiful and filling. Loved the selection of reading material in the lobby. The staff even gave us a lift to the airport at the end of our stay. So convenient. Downside? Regrettably there was construction going on in the hotel. Very noisy. Staff did their best to work around our time in the room which was appreciated. Cold pool and not heated. Sadly that meant we did not swim once. Since the pool is always in the shade it doesn't ever warm up. If it was heated that would make a more pleasant stay.

I am glad I picked this place for 5 nights in Chiang Mai. It is fairly well connected and also near a major fruit market so food is covered for.

I had a spacious condo style studio so space wasn't an issue. Great view overlooking the pool. Great staff and peaceful place. I booked the cookery class and an elephant safari which were both great.

A great place to relax and chillout.

This place would have definitely got a 5 star if the internet was a bit more reliable and the pool warmer.

Hi Philip, Greetings, the laundry has two washing machines and a dryer outside the lobby at the parking lot. It's available 24/7 and you have small sachets of soap and softener available for purchase at reception or you can just get them yourself at a 7/11. Also, if it is occupied and you are in a hurry, then outside Opium hotel, across the street there are 3-4 washing machines as well (these are slightly cheaper as well). Best regards, Chanak

Hi, it's not bad at all there is a market about 10 minutes walk away and it is really easy to get to the old town and other attractions as the hotel has its own taxi service which isn't a bad price around 150 baht (£3) to the old town it didn't affect our stay at all!
