This is not the hotel we originally planned to stay in for our trip to Chiang mai, but the one we booked was so far from the city we decided to book something cheap and close to the city and forego our money from the first place. You do get what you pay for, it is very old and not... More

Stayed in this hotel in April 2012 and was disappointed with the standard of the rooms especially the bathrooms which had mould, badly stained baths and broken toilet seats. I moved 3 times and on one occasion water was pouring out from the air conditioning unit which I had to use a bucket to catch it. Apart from this the... More

I stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks in March 2012 and was not disappointed. The price was very reasonable and it is in a great location. I stayed in the newer part of the hotel. The room was clean when we first arrived and cleaned by housekeeping everyday. There were a few ants in the bathroom, but it's Thailand,... More

Prebooked this hotel based on good reviews. Very sorry that I did. Not only was it overpriced for a city like Chiang Mai, it was one of the filthiest rooms I've ever stayed in and I've been traveling throughout SouthEast Asia for a very long time. Had the kind of room where it's great to shower, but fully clothed, wearing... More

A really good stay here for 8 days. It has a nice swimming pool, We stayed in the new section where the rooms are a bit spiffier and cost more but there is nothing wrong with the rooms in the old section. A cheerful and efficient front desk. A travel desk which does their job. An cheerful open air patio... More

I had the least expensive room in the old part of the hotel. The first time was fine - lots of people there. It's a bit dingy. Second time, I left after one night and went to another hotel. There is no safe in the room, there is a lot of light and noise during the night. The desk was... More

Located near Thapea gate with a nice swimming pool, private parking and free Wifi. But be aware that the hotel consists of 3 buildings and that the cheapest rooms are of course in the oldest building. And I think the 2 older buildings are not worth their price. But I took a room in the new building and the room... More

Oh, for this money, you could stay a few blocks away at a guest house with personality, good service and charm. None of which exists here. The location is excellent and drivers know this hotel. Most staff are not friendly and have little information. We had trouble booking an early morning taxi for the airport. Really unacceptable. Do not get... More

I wouldn't choose to stay here but that was what I was offered on a tour package. The old section is pretty dilapidated, bathroom is bad (towels are grey colored), needs to be remodeled, room is uber-basic. Breakfast was basic and pretty poor. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the tour staff in the lobby. Pool is freezing... More

If you are looking for a romantic place, stylish etc... do not stay at the Top North Hotel. Otherwise, it is, in my view, a very good choice when it comes to value for money. It is a large hotel, half quite old fashioned and half newly constructed. I stayed in the old part. The new one looks very nice,... More
