Very affordable spacious room, very good buffet breakfast (homemade and with enough choice), and you even have a computer in your room with internet connection. Cleanliness was very good compared to Hanoi standards and the location is great, yet not so noisy (our room didn't look down Ma May St.).I strongly recommend it since it is the best place we... More

Located in the heart of the Old Quarter but away from the dingy Cathedral area but close to excellent restaurants and shops. Decent rooms and good breakfast. Great travel desk with staff who can arrange most everything for sites around Hanoi and the north. They will let you stash your bags there if you go on a couple day excursion... More

Based on TA reviews, I spent my first night in Hanoi at the Meracus. A relatively luxurious room (I didn't realize this until compared with later accommodations) big bath, ammenities like slippers, and very clean (awful breakfast). However, despite my request of a balcony, my room was practically windowless. An understandable problem. I awoke early to scout another hotel. The... More

We stayed for two nights at Sunshine 1 Hotel on 25 and 26 December 2011 when we first arrived in Vietnam from New Zealand. I'd booked it several weeks prior and wasn't required to pay a deposit. We also opted for the airport pick-up service that they offered which my research showed was only a dollar or two more than... More

I would not stay here again. There is constant noise from the street below, banging of pans from the restaurant and the people and car noises just non stop. We were in Hanoi for 3 nights, but after realising how noisy it is have booked into another Hotel in a quieter part of the old quarter. Much better value too... More

My wife Brenda and I are from Bunbury, Western Australia and have just returned from a fabulous 2 week trip to North Vietnam thanks mainly to Sunshine 1 hotel manager Mr Manh Hung who had arranged a full itinerary for us via email, prior to our arrival in Hanoi. He was recommended to us by a friend of mine and... More

Our first night in Vietnam, didn't bargain, should have done that. Paid $30 for the first night, $25 for the second. Really nice breakfast in hotel just next door. Bathroom was old, but clean. We got 2 complimentary bottles of water a day and fruit.

I stayed for 2 nights. rooms was large, clean, felt safe, location perfect. I would recommend this place if you are not looking for luxury but location with friendly staff. Breakfast is just ordinary but the breakfast room is not with any ambience so just go sit somewhere at a street cafe to take in the scenes. airport pickup all... More

Moved to this place from the Sunshine Palace a few doors down. Had a look at the room before checking in and all was ok. Returned in the evening to find there was a problem with the hot water i.e. there wasn't any. Not even enough to have a shower let alone a bath. After complaining, they denied there was... More

If you are looking for a mid-range hotel, in the very lively Old Quarter of Hanoi, I think Sunshine 1 Hotel is a good choice. I was there in the winter, with record-breaking colds, so the windows were closed at all times, and the heating system was efficient. If you want less noise from the street, try the rooms in... More
