I had to stay here when another hotel f###ed up my reservation. Luckily it was only for one night. Totally overpriced, shoddy furniture, noisy rooms, unprofessional service. The worst of the worst. Given the central location I would only recommend it to backpackers - if the price were about USD 40.- per night.

Having traveled around Vietnam fairly extensively over the years, I know you can find a budget hotel that meets basic needs. One of the most basic is cleanliness. If you are planning on staying at the Star your most basic need will not be met. I can handle dated rooms, and they are dated; but unclean sheets, unclean floors, and... More

My partner and I stayed at the Star Hotel in January 2012. It looks fantastic in the photo on this site, really smart and glitzy, but the rooms are a disappointment, like something out of a '70s catalogue. It was overpriced for the room, the bed didn't smell very fresh and the pillows were lumpy. The worst thing was the... More

I've never written a poor review, but this one warrants it. All I ask is for a clean place to sleep and shower - and to pay the price I was quoted, unfortunately I was disappointed in both areas. I realized, after climbing into the bed, ick, that the sheets were dirty and had fresh dried blood on them. The... More

Just a word on the Star Hotel. If you pay by credit card, they slap on an extra fee - probably the fee the credit card company charges them. This is a bad practise and not allowed. Since we did not carry much cash, we had to by by card but complained later to the credit card company.

We are residents in Vietnam and are quite used to any standards of accomodation. The Star Hotel, we found, was the the unfairest deal regarding price compared to delivery we ever had. It's not even worthwhile to discuss the below-average breakfast, the overstaffing with more people playing with cell phones than actually caring about guests, nor would we discuss the... More

i stayed here twice within a few days, i found it to be in a great location, not too far away from everything, but far enough to get away from most of the noise. the rooms where beautifully decorated, the foyer was stunning, breakfast wa ..ok ...staff...well mainly very broken english was spoken, the doormen where exceptional. i stayed on... This hotel is well located in District 1, just near the new Park Hyatt, Caravelle and Sheraton Hotels. The whole hotel is tiled, so the noise in the hallways just echoes into your room. Unfortunately when we stayed there was also building works next to the hotel, so there was drilling and banging from 8am onwards. Satellite TV stations were... More

Stayed on the 11th floor, Elevators were a bit slow, but room was spacious clean and quiet. $55USD/night for the Superior room was good value.

This was a very clean hotel with new fittings and a comfortable bed. We stayed in the superior room for $55 US which was spick and span. It was near the back of the hotel on the 7th floor with a great view out of the one small window. Unfortunately we couldn't see it from the bed, which made the... More
