The Gobi desert has many ger or yurt camps but none offer the comparative "luxury" of Three Camel Lodge. Luxury is a relative term in the Gobi but TCL achieves it so long as you don't expect an in suite shower and a host of amenities. It is in a class by itself. The dining room staff is more than... This lodge is absolutely amazing. We took an EZ-Nis flight from Ulaanbaatar to Dalangzagdad. We had arranged our stay from Nomad Expeditions in UB. They have very helpful English speaking staff. We had arranged for a private driver to pick us up in Dalangzagdad. Nomad Expeditions made it really easy for us to arrange for his stay on a short... More

Surely the top of the ladder in Mongolian ger camps! An eco-sensitive ger camp that delivers comfort and (almost) luxury in the Gobi. Built of local materials in a traditional style many of the gers have en suite toilets and sinks, no small deal after camping in the desert. A relaxing porch from which to sip a COLD drink (cold... After a short flight from Ulaanbaatar and about 90 minute bumpy drive across the Gobi (no roads, just tire tracks to follow) we arrived at Three Camel Lodge. The individual ghers are very comfortable, but be aware that private bathroom does NOT mean a private shower. We opted for the private bathroom deluxe ghers and those only offer a toilet/sink.... This is an ecolodge in the south Gobi Desert, about an hour's drive along unimproved dirt tracks from the airport. Rooms are individual gers, a subset of which have ensuite toilet/sink but shared showers; the majority of gers have no toilet facilities at all, and you have to use the shared toilets/sinks/showers located beneath the main lodge building. However, these... More

For a ger in the desert it was clean and comfortable. Public areas were generally well maintained (if you ignore the fact that my husband or I had to clean/wipe-down almost every table we sat at). The meals were fried European, disappointing when (a) we don't typically eat fried food and (b) are in the GOBI DESERT expecting at least... More

On our recent trip to the Gobi, we spent three nights at the Three Camel Lodge. It's a jarring hour-plus ride on dirt tracks from the airport at Dalanzadgad, but then you can relax in simple, elegant, spotlessly clean gers, with or without private toilet (former considerably more expensive). The public showers and loos are immaculate, very comfortable and well-appointed,... More

Actually the Three Camel Lodge is located nearly 300 miles south of U.B. in the Gobi Desert 1 1/2 hour bumpy ride from Dalanzadgad Airport -- itself a 1 1/4-hour flight from Ulaanbaatar. Stayed only one night but wish it was longer. Take advantage of $45 hour massage (done by former surgical nurse) from head to toe. You will float... More

Wonderful! Very comfortable and very nice. I even had an hour massage for $20 USD. A ger with a private bath (sink and toliet only) will cost an extra $60 USD per night. However, the common bath area was very clean and nice. This is more plush than you can imagine in the Gobi desert. The sunrises are spectacular!

This place is fabulous! We had an incredible time here. The gerts are really beautiful and immaculate. Some have a private bathroom and sink but the showers are shared. Remember this is the Gobi Desert. The chef is very accomodating about special dietary concerns and the staff are so gracious. There was one staff member who seemed to appear out... More
