We booked Hotel Sunshine on the basis of other people’s reviews and it turned out to be a good choice. The room was decent for the price and the reception staff were helpful. It’s situated near Bambalapitiya Railway Station in Colombo 04, so you can get a train or a rickshaw into the Fort/Galle Face Green, or walk up Galle... More

This place was perfect for us. We stayed in Room 101, a simple fan room, and a great value at US $15. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was very clean. It was nice and quiet when we were there. This hotel is located in Bambalapitiya, which is three train stops south of the Fort railway station.... More

I'm not sure how things work in this place, but the bathroom had broken windows (two of those), which meant I had to ask for two towels and tie them up to cover the windows. Everything in the bathroom would have been visible from the local arrack bar nearby. Oh, yes. If you open the window in the room, you... More

Great hotel for the price. The room we had was clean, had hot water, large balcony and nice wooden doors and windows giving the room character. The location was a short walk to shopping areas and some reasonable resturants. I've stayed in many large cities in South Asia and this hotel was by far the best for the price. A... More

Fantastic value for money, friendly helpful staff and really tasty food (not included) I had my first string hoppers and curry here for breakfast and they were delicious! This is a great budget/basic find in Colombo. Definitely recommend

I must admit I usually go for more salubrious establishments but a delayed flight and no room for me at my usual places meant in the early hours of the morning I was faced with the horrible prospect of finding a bed for a few hours kip. Sunshine Hotel was a god send! The service was SUPERB and I think... More

As most previous write ups indicate the Sunshine can be considered an 'average hotel', however it is excellent value for money and well run. Any hotel which accepts 2 adults and 1 teenager at 5:00am in the morning (without pre-telephoning or reservation) is good in my book. We were given a room with fan for 1750 rps. The 2nd night... This hotel is tatty but clean and comfortable. For Colombo its prices are amazingly cheap. Its only a 10minute ride in a tuk tuk to Fort area. It`s only a 5 minute walk from the outlet clothing store Fashion House and also Majestic City mall.
