Walls paper thin, internet almost nonexistant unless you're place in one of the 4 rooms on the first floor, wallpaper peeling off the walls, had to open a window to cool the room, english spoken poorly by the staff, not prepared for credit cards, overpriced ($50 single). Near a metro that takes you to most of the sites.

Birbey Hotel is not at all luxurious or impressive, still it was clean, quiet and warm (when we visitd Istanbul the temperture was very low and it was snowing, but in our room we could sleep naked!) and the personnel was helpful and cheerful, so I believe it was worth the 35 euros per night that we payed for our... The condition of this hotel is worthy only of being condemned. No work has been done on it since it was built and everything is mouldy, mildewing, falling apart and barely functional. The lavatory cistern works but the top fall off when you lift the button. Wall paper is peeling, carpet is moulting and is disintegrating as is everything in... More

Treated my stay in Istanbul as a bit of an adventure and Hotel Birby fitted the bill perfectley. The hotel is tucked away in a back street and is hard to find, however the local area seemed friendly and we felt safe. I stayed in winter and found the hotel room to be very hot with signs in room not... More

11 stops from the terminus of the tram and then 200 yards walk, this hotel is tucked away on a side street in a gritty but not unpleasant part of town, but we never felt unsafe. Staff were pleasant, the room grimy and smelling of cigarette smoke, but the bed perfectly comfortable. Shower was excellent, toilet less so. Breakfast the... More

At 50 euro a night I wasnt expecting anything grand or fancy, all I expected was a clean, safe, comfortable environment. Somewhere to wash a days travelling and wandering off of my skin. This however was definately NOT what myself and my travelling partner got. The walls were mouldy, the wallpaper was falling off, it was dark, stuffy and hot.... More

I booked this hotel through GTA travel and it was rated as 3 stars. I was horrified when I saw the room. Wallpaper hanging off the wall. Mould encircling the window and around the shower. The main light was just a light bulb, no shade. Electric wires were hanging out of walls and all electrical fittings were loose or not... More
