Had a chance to check out personally many of the little guesthouses in the area of Sultanamet - paid 100 euros per night (single)at Tashkonak - this one is more convenient, much nicer for just 60 euros (single) - huge savings. The rooms have been renovated and are cool, clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is... More

We stayed in the Hotel Alp Guesthouse for 5 nights. The hotel is very well situated and the terrace has a wonderful view on the Marmara See. The staff is young and friendly. The rooms are quite small, especially because we were traveling with a baby who slept in a baby cot. Additionally, we had a room in the basement... More

The best thing about this small hotel? Location, location, location. It is located in the old Sultanahmet district in Istanbul, which is where the main tourist attractions are located. The Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Basillica Cistern and more are only a few short blocks away. Even the Grand Bazaar and Spice Market are less than a mile --... More

I have stayed at the Alp Hotel on all of my 9 trips to Turkey, about 18 separate bookings in all, and I have never had any problem staying at this fine little hotel that is situated right in the middle of the old city but on a quiet side street that does not allow car traffic. The hotel is... More

This is a hotel that I will always remember and highly recommend. I visited many parts of the city during my stay and there is absolutely no better location. It is right where you want to be in the old section and close walking distance to most significant sites. Transportation.....tram, metro, ferries and buses are all close (the hotel is a... More

This is a decent price for the location...it pays to be near the major sights and the tram. It's literally a five-minute walk from the Hagia Sophia (unless you have little kids like us - it's more like 12 minutes). The breakfast terrace on the roof has a view out to the Sea of Marmara. The hotel itself is on... More

This hotel was such a find (thanks lonely planet!). Frankly, it is a bit underrated. The hotel is not too big which I liked as it gives a more personal experience. First, let me highlight the service at this hotel - every single one of the staff members was super helpful and friendly. Anything we asked about, they helped us... More

I stayed here with my mother and her husband a few months back and the reviews are right, it's a lovely place to stay. It is in the Backpacker area, but that actually has it's advantages sometimes. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean, good amenities etc. My only complaint against the rooms is that there is specious little... More

We walked around the area and found the Alp Guesthouse at the beginning of October. We paid a small deposit for them to reserve a room for us for when we returned to Istanbul at the end of October. We had caught the night bus from Antalya and arrived a day earlier than anticipated and before 8:00am! They welcomed us... More

Having recently stayed three nights at this excellent hotel I can heartily endorse the positive comments made by other guests. Great location for sites and restaurants, helpful and friendly staff and great views from the breakfast room and roof terrace. With a south facing aspect from the roof you can enjoy these splendid views across the Sea of Marmara and... More
