This hotel has shared bath rooms More than one guest in the room The front desk staff has no clue what customer service is .the location of this hotel in downtown Amman is the best thing about this hotel . if you go up the stairs a cross from tbe hotel and reach Al Weibedeh neighborhood which is within walking distance from downtown Amman you will find cleaner friendier staff and pay the same amount of money . stay away from this hotel .and it is not family friendly at all.

Mamaya hotel was really the bast budget option over a week spend in Jordan. Rooms there were neat and the location couldn't be more central. The place is still being improved by the new owners who made us feel welcomed and made sure we had all we needed. They provide airport transport and show you best spots in town to eat and shop. It's a great value for money and I truly recommend this place to all travellers.

Perhaps this kind of hotel suits some people, but for me I felt very uncomfortable here from a cleanliness and comfort point of view. The hotel is in pretty dire condition with broken units in the corridor, dirty towels strewn on the bathroom floor, shower doors hanging off etc. My room had a large bed, but the cover was stained. I didn't want to open the covers so I just lay on top all night. However, they did smell as if they had been cleaned, so maybe I am being too picky. Perhaps most disappointing was being told I would receive breakfast (which I had paid for) at 7.30am which was fine with me. Nothing arrived, and when I checked out at 8.30am, was told that the women who make breakfast don't arrive til 9am! So don't bother paying for the additional breakfast if you have an early flight to catch or want to see the city sights early in the morning. Oh and wifi was available, but very patchy and non existent at times. This hotel would probably suit a very small niche of the traveling population, but even backpackers/regular hostelers might find it a bit too intense!

Keep in mind I'm a volunteer out here with a pretty humble salary, so when I come into Amman with friends, I am stuck with budget options (not five star hotels...or even two star ones for that matter). So with that said, I am of the opinion that Mamaya is the best budget option for travelers and people needing a place in Amman, especially if you are with a group of friends. Please note that ownership of this place has changed in the last half year. Since then, this place has gone from a necessary evil to a pretty cool place. This hotel has always turned a blind eye to drinking and coed sleeping arrangements, and with the new ownership, they are even more laid back about it. The staff is cool, and in their own words, they just want "everybody to feel at home." The new staff have replaced all the sheets and comforters lately, and do a good job of changing and washing them now. The bathrooms are not the best, but the public ones are pretty reliable if you don't have one in your room. I usually come here in groups of people ranging from three to 10+. Honestly, with the amount of hell-raising we have done in the hotel, the staff are regular Jordanian heroes for putting up with us. This is really key to Mamaya's charm. It is a pretty uncommon thing to find in Jordan. Mamaya is probably more humble than what you are used to back home, but it is THE budget option for Amman. If you haven't visited since the change in ownership, give it another try!

Worst place I have ever stayed in my life. Extremelly dirty : they do not change the bedsheets between the clients, so my bed was full of other people's hair, the bathroom was full of hair everywhere, the shower was cloged up with used cottons, there were droppings floating in the toilets with some brown unidentified materiel on the toilet seat, etc, etc,...

This is from far the worst hotel I've been in: dirty room (hair and spots in the sheets, facial hair and toothapste and other stuff in the sink and shower...), there were holes in the windows, unsympathetic owner, and no breakfast although it says so on the website. The only thing the owner told me is that the cleaning guy hadnt showed up for a while. I slept in icy wind and the car noises after changing the sheets myself. The shower was too disguting for me me to use it, anyway there was no hot water.

The hotel manager, Jalal is exceptionally welcoming and goes out of his way to help with anything he can - really lovely! The rooms are big and clean and it's very centrally located. We'd checked out some other accommodation recommended by the guide books and this well exceeded them. Definitely worth checking out!
