My wife and I stayed at the Safari Village for 10 days over the Christmas and New Year and were happy with our choice for the price we paid which was equivalent to 2 days in the Grand Hyatt next door. The room was large and we had a view towards the sea. The room itself had high ceilings, AirCon that worked fine & also a fan which was a bit noisy but done the job, the bed was very comfortable, a couple of armchairs and dining table and chairs were good as so many hotels do not have good chairs and you end up sitting on the bed. Large TV with satellite box if you want it. The room also has a small kitchenette that has sink, microwave, 2 ring hob, fridge and cutlery, crockery and utensils for 2 if you wanted to cook basic meals for yourself. There is a small shop 10 mins walk away or a supermarket at a plaza 15 mins walk near to McDonald's and a few other fast food places. Breakfast was adequate in the breakfast room near reception. It had a mix of fresh chopped melons, and canned fruits, breads & pastries, cheeses, cereals, eggs cooked to order and various other hot options that changed daily, beans, chicken sausages, spring rolls, samoa's are just a few things on offer. Room was cleaned each day and plenty of toiletries to use. We paid a good price for what we got, its true its not a 5* but we did pay 5* prices either. We had a couple of problems that was quickly sorted out by dialing 0 and calling Reception, the first was that some had locked the safe open, this was sorted when someone came up, used the key unlocked the doors and changed batteries and it worked fine for the rest of the time. The other problem was we had cold water one morning, which again was sorted quickly when reception sent someone up from housekeeping and showed us that we had turned off the water heater switch in the room, that we had thought was AirCon. There is a small gym which we didn't take advantage of as we were on holiday !! The use of the Hyatt pool area, including towels and loungers was great, although to get a lounger fairly close to the pool in the sun you need to be quick in the mornings, but the grassed area is a good alternative. soft drinks, cocktails (both with and without alcohol) and meals at the pool bar are expensive but nice as a Christmas day treat, there is a couple of cheaper alternatives in either the Candle cafe which right on the beach does a range of soft drinks, juices and meals at 25% of the costs in the Hyatt. Rakan cafe also does coffees, juices, soft drinks and cheaper meals, and shisas. The staff were all very helpful and full of useful information, especially Zaim who was always very cheerful and willing to help in any way or offer advice on directions or even put us in touch with good tour companies as a couple we tried never responded back to us. All in all we were very happy with our stay at the Safari Village, for us, this was all about having Christmas and New Year in the sun, the room with a comfortable bed, that was more affordable to allow us to go and lay in the sun, relax and explore, Which this hotel did.…
