Do not go to this place! Malmann probably left this place at his arrogant employees' mercy! What happened to me there: 1.upon arrival, we asked for two simple drinks. The employee was reading a recipe to make an easy dry martini. 2. We were in a party of 10. Nothing was served before 1 hour at the table, the entrees... More

I only read the reviews once we were at Hotel Garzon, arriving less than a week after the disappointed Canadians, and whilst every hotel can't please all of the people all of the time, we had a delightful stay, but I can sympathise with some of the comments in the last review. We stayed for 4 nights and as the... More

We were staying in Montevideo and heard this was worth the trip. After 3 days of not being able to reach them due to their Internet being down, we finally reached them by phone. They sent a form for us to wire $750 US to a New York city account to reserve a room for one night at Hotel Garzon.... More

The town itself is tiny, picturesque, tranquil - the kind of place people don't lock there doors. The chef and owner of the hotel, Francis Mallman, is the Don of the town and has brought several foreigners to buy in the area. The hotel is beautiful, full of back copies of the New Yorker to ponder while you let time... More

We stayed here for 1 night (& 1 very long day, as we just didn't want to leave...) in December. This place is not for everyone - there are no poolside loungers, the rooms are dark & a bit rustic, there is nothing to do in the one-horse former ghost town. But we loved the laid-back atmosphere, the interesting architecture... More

Hotel Garzon was our honeymoon splurge. We stayed for two nights and every part of our stay was excellent. First, you come for the food. Frances is known for his wood fire cooking and every morsel we had was delicious. As a hotel guest all your meals are included and each time you sit down your taste buds will be... More

I chose this place for a special birthday and it lived up to all my expectations. The service was beyond beyond. In addition to fulfilling ever whim, they even helped us make reservations for our next stop in Montevideo. The food was among the best I have had anywhere. Frances knows how to creat the perfect, intimate resort. Sheltered behind... More

This hotel in La Garzon is a serious hotel/restaurant, meaning the owner is very experienced in hospitality, as he has top restaurants in Buenos Aires, NYC, and the Hamptons (never been there though I certainly know they do not suffer fools), not to mention the restaurant he closed in Jose Ignacio (the owner feels the environment in La Garzon is... After finding that almost everything in Jose Ignacio was closed in late April we decided to look for other options. We drove to Garzon and tried to check in to Hotel Garzon which siits in thhe center of the lovely village of Garzon about 40 minutes from Jose Ignacio. The location in the quiet town was nice. The facility looked... More
