Well situated in the historic Candelaria section of Bogota, this little gem of a boutique hotel is like an urban hacienda. Besides the superb location, the rooms are clean and comfortable. There is a traditional section of the hotel and a newer, "art deco" wing. The service is great at this hotel and the restaurant is truly excellent. I will... More

March 2009, we spent four days is the lovely hotel in Bogota's historic district. We breakfasted each morning in the pretty indoor courtyard on fresh fruits and juices, then stepped out front onto the cobblestone street. The room decor was ultra contemporary in our first room. We returned a few days later and stayed in a more historic room overlooking... More

We only stayed one night but it was lovely. Our judgement may have been slightly coloured by the fact that for the week leading up to our night at the Opera, we has been staying in places that did have hot running water. That said, the Opera is a class act - beautiful historic architecture, good service, fantastic location and... More

Everything about our stay at Hotel de la Opera was excellent. We arrived late at night, and a friendly hotel driver was waiting for us. When we arrived, we were ushered to our lovely room which had a balcony overlooking the street. It was a very nice touch that we appreciated even more the next morning when we could take... More

This was my first visit to Bogota and the hotel was perfect - location, room and amenities (like complimentary WiFi), helpful and courteous staff and the Colonial architecture. The complimentary breakfast - beautiful fruit, pastries, hot omelet and cafe con leche - was a bonus. The Police presence in the hotel's Candelaria district was reassuring. More

I have stayed for 6 nights at Hotel de la Opera. First on a business trip, the last 2 nights for visiting the city. I will first describe the good sides: - Lovely building, in the historic part of Bogotá. La Candelaria. - Very good attention from the staff, especially in the restaurant. - Very good buffet in the morning.... More

Hotel de la Opera is a beautiful old house with beautiful views of the center of Bogota. The location is ideal, near the plaza de armas, and the street has a lot of security since it is behind important government buildings. Not much traffic on the street for the same reason. The service was excellent, breakfast in the pretty restaurant... More

We spent 2 nights in this beautiful Hotel. Most of the staff spoke some English, but there was always someone available who was fluent. Despite my very poor Spanish, we had few problems and lots of fun with the very patient staff. The heated indoor pool was a pleasant temperature for a quiet swim after dinner, when there was rarely... More

We stayed at this hotel while recently in Bogota. Only at the front desk is there an English speaker. No one in the restaurants, at breakfast, or anywhere else speaks English. Also, the temperature of the water at the "spa" is 28 C. Keep in mind that body temperature (98.6 F) is 37 C, and you'll realize that 28 is... More
