We stayed at the Cosmopolian for two nights. The hotel clearly has some very nice character - tall ceilings and period features. Unfortunaterly, these are quickly overlooked when you realise how dirty the hotel is (not just the rooms but the communal areas too). Our room had a film of dirt covering many surfaces. Cairo is a smoggy city but... More

The rooms are small, but ensuite, and reasonably clean. You do have to run the bath taps for a good 5 minutes to get any hot water, but once it arrives it is good and hot, and that was true in the late afternoon or in early in the morning - it's an old hotel with several floors after all.... More

I stayed at the Cosmpolitan back in December as it was the starting point for my tour group. If it wasn't for that, I would never have stayed at this hotel. It looks nice from the outside but once you get inside and into your room, you realise how how old and decripit it is. And given the relative high... More

Hotel was ok a bit worn out. I had to get really really insistent about speaking to the manager and nothing was resolved. If you do stay here and have booked on the Internet do check.

We stayed at this hotel through a tour package with GAP Adventures. The horrible reviews of 85% thumbs down given by patrons on the Trip Advisor website is well deserved. The entire hotel reeked pretty bad and it was not a scent that one could get used to over time. There was no hot water and not enough water pressure.... More

We spent one night at this hotel because it was the starting point of our tour. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the mixed reviews on here but in the end I feel it was an acceptable place to stay. It wasn't perfect but it was alright. One of things I appreciated about this hotel was its old... More

This government run palace is simply run down. The lobby is nice, but the rooms are not so nice. The floor was covered with cigarette ashes and I showered with about 10 bugs. The bathroom is simply scary looking. That being said, for 1 night this was absolutely fine because the location is smack in downtown Cairo. If I were... More

Stayed here with a small group. The lobby is nice . . . the rooms don't quite live up to the first impression. The rooms I saw were all quite small and cramped. Otherwise, the hotel is fine. My room was clean and fairly quiet. Staff was generally helpful. The hotel is located in a very walkable part of the... More

We stayed at Cosmo 4 nights over the course of 2 weeks (3 different rooms). First, make sure you bring directions to get there because nobody (taxi driver, locals) seemed to know where it was located based on the address alone. This hotel is definitely old, which is part of it's charm. Elevator is quite an interesting piece of "technology".... More
