this hotel is one of my favorites in the world. The corridor leading to reception and the lobby make you think you are in a hitchcock movie. The location is great for visiting downtown Cairo. you can easily walk to the Egyptian museum from there. The staff arranged for our taxi to visit the Pyramids and to go back to... More

Downtown Cairo is a great location for getting to all kinds of wonderful neighborhoods and activities. But finding a good downtown Cairo hotel that won't wreck your budget is a challenge. The Pension Roma was our third attempt during our two-week trip to Egypt. It's fabulous. The rooms are clean and well-supplied with everything you need - towels, sheets (no,... More

Very central location and easy to find (sign posted and marked). Has a lift to get up which is handy. Very friendly and multilingual staff. Clean, spacious and comfortable rooms, ours even had a balcony with a great view of the Cairo chaos below. Breakfast was included and very nice; two rolls, two treat/biscuits, juice, tea/coffee, and cheese/jams for the... More

You really can't beat the price and location. And it's got a lot more character than your typical budget options. I had a balcony room and thought the traffic noise would bother me, but it wasn't that bad (I have a white noise app on my phone that helped). I agree that the breakfast isn't worth it. I also did... I agree with most of the other reviews written about this hotel. Our room had a huge balcony overlooking the main road which made it noisy for sleeping - but the view was well worth it. We spent quite a bit of time sitting out there and watching the crazy traffic and street life from a distance. The breakfast is... More

Go to one of the most dynamic cities in the world and if you do stay at Pension Roma. I stayed for 3 nights with my girlfriend from December 21st. The hotel is perfectly situated close to most sites including Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum (yes we went there when it was 'really dangerous' according to the world's media,... More

As a frequent traveler for both work and holiday, I can happily say that Pension Roma is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Walking through the old metal gates of the elevator and down the narrow hall to the reception makes you feel as though you are walking back in time to the 1930s. This is... More

This is a great find in the centre of Cairo, in walking distance from many of the main sites but far enough away from any of the trouble caused by the current political problems. The building is beautiful and charming, right from the fantastic elevator to the huge rooms, cute communal areas and helpful staff, it is one of my... More

I stayed here for 10 days during easter 2012, and it was wonderful. Very charming, great location, very cheap, and surpisingly quiet. The only thing that was bad, was the breakfast, some tasteless buns, and terrible coffee. We always went out for breakfast. The staff were extremely friendly, and helpful.
